The Giants have signed fifth-round pick Cooper Taylor, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reported Friday.

Taylor (6-4, 228) received All-American honors from various publications in 2012, including the Associated Press, after notching 78 tackles and four tackles for Richmond.

Taylor began his collegiate career at Georgia Tech before transferring. In 2009, his sophomore season with Georgia Tech, Taylor was found to have Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a condition that can lead to an irregular heartbeat. According to the Macon Telegraph and other media outlets, Taylor had surgery to address the condition.

After the draft, Giants GM Jerry Reese said that Taylor’s heart condition “was (nothing) significant for our trainers and doctors right now. They cleared him and they don’t really have any real concerns.”

According to Wilson, the contract is valued at $2.34 million. It is a four-year deal.
