Dwight Freeney about to take his show on the road

Having already apparently given up on his dream of making Dwight Freeney money, Dwight Freeney is about to hit the road in search of Osi Umenyiora money.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the former Colts defensive end is expected to start taking visits next week, with four or five teams interested.

The Buccaneers apparently have no interest, but the Titans probably do, among others.

The 33-year-old Freeney should generate interest, even though he’s taken a step back in recent seasons.

After posting double-digit sack seasons in seven of his first nine, he has just 13.5 sacks the last two years. It’s reasonable to give him a bit of a pass on last season, as he was asked to stand up in a 3-4 for the first time, but he’s still not finding the market he expected.

A few well-publicized trips might help that process along.

he is worth maybe, 3-4 mill a year as a situational pass rusher, but dont expect many tackles, and expect teams to run to his side all they time

    The Denver Broncos.

Yeah, I too think he’ll land in Denver. He will end up with a contract that is heavily weighted with incentives. Money will start kicking in at around 6 sacks with big money kicking in around 10 sacks. If he performs he will make money. If he’s washed up he’ll end up makeing close to veteran minimum which is where the contact will start.

That ship has sailed with the Broncos. A guy making 4 million has to have a defined role and there is no room left for him out here in Denver.

Freeney rarely was standing up last season….he usually had his hand in the dirt like always. You guys even watch football?

I wish my bucs would take a look at him. Our 2 starting DE’s are talented, BUT they have both had serious knee injuries, it scares me as a buc fan. Gholston looks like he can develop into a solid DE for us, but not in his rookie season.

He is from CT. and a Big Yankee fan. Maybe a home town discount for NY?

I agree. Wish the Buccaneers would at least kick the tires on this. More pass rush–even situational pass rush–will only make the secondary stronger/better.
