The Jets have signed undrafted rookie placekicker Brett Maher, agent Robert Roche said Sunday on Twitter.
Maher, a Nebraska product, took part in the Jets’ weekend rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.
Maher (6-0, 186) connected on 20-of-27 field goals in 2012 for the Cornhuskers. He was 3-of-5 of field goals of 50 yards or more and 6-of-11 from this range in two seasons as Nebraska’s field goal kicker. Overall, Maher hit 39-of-50 field goal attempts in his collegiate career.
The Jets re-signed kicker Nick Folk in March. They also added kicker Derek Dimke, a first-year pro, in April.
