The Chiefs have signed rookie running back Knile Davis, the club announced Monday.

The 5-foot-10, 227-pound Davis was a third-round pick (No. 96 overall) in April. He declared for the draft after his redshirt junior season at Arkansas.

The 21-year-old Davis has very good speed. He was timed at 4.37 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, second-fastest among running backs. However, he has struggled to stay healthy, with ankle and collarbone injuries hampering him at various points. Also, fumbles were an issue in his collegiate career.

Davis will compete for snaps behind starter Jamaal Charles in the Kansas City backfield.
