The Texans have signed veteran running back Deji Karim, agent Jason Bernstein said Tuesday on Twitter.

The reported addition of Karim, who tried out for Houston last weekend at its rookie minicamp, gives the Texans a little more veteran depth at running back. Previously, the Texans only had one non-rookie running back (Ben Tate) behind starter Arian Foster.

The 26-year-old Karim has previously played for two of the Texans’ AFC South rivals: Jacksonville (2010-2011) and Indianapolis (2012). He appeared in three games for the Colts last season but did not record any statistics on offense. The Colts did not tender him in restricted free agency, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Karim (5-8, 209) has rushed for 290 yards on 98 carries and has caught 17 passes for 130 yards in 26 career regular-season games.
