Gabe Carimi missing from Bears OTAs again

Gabe Carimi AP

Technically speaking, OTA workouts are voluntary for players.

That doesn’t mean they do not matter, or are not remembered.

Bears offensive lineman Gabe Carimi was missing from the workouts for the second straight day, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

The former first-round pick was around for the also voluntary minicamp, but has apparently chosen to skip the next phase.

For a guy fighting for a roster spot, the absence is notable, and not particularly helpful.

Sounds like Bears are working a trade and asked him to stay home.

Sounds like he is getting cut and he knows it. Why risk getting injured before you hit the free agent market?

Looking to cut before training camp?

  4. yamchargers says: May 14, 2013 2:42 PM

Maybe his plan is to get cut so he can start in San Diego. Its not about being the best, its about being the vest available.

I agree with the first two commenters–he is either about to get traded (Dolphins still looking? AZ, SD?) or he is about to get cut. Not a definite but it sure is shaping up to be one of these two options…should be interesting. Had such a high label IMO because of the Wisconsin lineman pedigree; and that doesn’t always work out at the next level.

Thank the lord the Patriots took Nate Solder instead of this slug.

He told the bears two weeks ago he was going to miss these camps

  8. tharoostah says: May 14, 2013 3:03 PM

He told the Bears he was going to miss these and focus on rehab. This is not news, someone should let Brad Biggs know.

Glad the Seahawks passed on him.

Did any lineman perform at Chicago? Carimi was a college award winner, from a school that habitually produces top tier lineman and tight end. Carimi will sign with another squad and shine, you can bet on it.

this bum needs to go.. he had his chances to play and now its time for him to go

Hey cubbies get a hint that he dose not want to play for you guys anymore. Do I have to spell it out for you.

  13. greenngld says: May 14, 2013 3:58 PM

Maybe you should spell it out. When you spell it out, maybe you should spell it does instead of dose. You might make more sense then.

    Thanks for spelling it out.

    Chris williams…first round bust
    Gabe Carimi…first round bust

    Chicago offensive line…terrible in general.

A some point you have to start looking at the coaching and telent evaluation. In todays NFL when scouting is better and morein depth than ever, there is no way you should be missing on this many linemen.

  16. larrydavid7000 says: May 14, 2013 4:13 PM

@greenngld speaking about spelling it out why don’t you spell out who you root for instead of abbreviated it. Sorry packer fan. All you guys do is cry about everything that’s not going your way. MAN UP.!!!!!!

  17. greenngld says: May 14, 2013 4:37 PM

@larrydavid7000 if you can’t figure out what greenngld means, I don’t know how to help you. The rest of your post is nonsense, since I wasn’t crying about anything, this has nothing to do with the Packers, and there is nothing to me to MAN UP.!!!!! to.

If you must know, my username is from back in the AOL days. When AOL first started, you were limited to 9 letters, thus mine became GREENnGLD. I kept using it for all my usernames after that. Some boards don’t accept capital letters, so it becomes greenngld. That was about 20 years ago. How long have you been a fan of the 7000s?

  18. larrydavid7000 says: May 14, 2013 6:06 PM

@greenngld Really you are to funny. Are you a comedian by any chance.???? You ever heard of get with the times. You can change your username and stop being about 20 years behind the times.

  19. greenngld says: May 14, 2013 6:35 PM

You keep digging your hole deeper with each post. I’ll let you do the work.

Karma comes back to bite the Bears in the butt. Should have made the trade with the Ravens…

  21. vfan76 says: May 14, 2013 11:24 PM

I don’t blame him, who would want to play for the Bears.

  22. mmchugh08 says: May 15, 2013 12:29 AM

Jerry Jones, dig back into those most recent calls after the Frederick pick and call your alma mater’s new HC (former Wisconsin HC) Bret Bielema to figure this one out. Drop Free already and take a flier on a way cheaper and younger former first-round pick at RT.
