LeSean McCoy sued for assault

Browns running back Trent Richardson isn’t the only tailback on the wrong side of an offseason assault lawsuit.  According to CourthouseNews.com, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has been sued for assault, too.

The alleged incident occurred on a “party bus” McCoy rented in December 2012, for a trip from Philadelphia to New York City.  The plaintiff, a female suing under the “Jane Roe” pseudonym, alleges that McCoy and/or his bodyguard (John Doe a/k/a “Big John”) punched the plaintiff in the face, held her down and poured a beverage over her, and ejected her from the bus, all of which occurred after she complained about being sprayed with water.

After others on the bus complained about the plaintiff being stranded along the side of the road, McCoy allegedly allowed her back on the bus but then left her at a rest stop.  The plaintiff claims that she reported the incident to New Jersey police.

The lawsuit, filed in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, seeks more than $50,000 in damages for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment, and negligence.

  1. I thought maybe Vick was suing him for assault against Vick’s integrity after saying Vick cheated in their footrace. I guess being left at a rest stop is better than the side of the road? Nothing good happens when someone makes it rain.

  2. This is exactly why partying with hanger-on’s, groupies etc is always a bad idea. There is always someone in the group looking for a way to make some quick money. Some broke “victim” just waiting for something bad to go wrong to get a nice settlement out of it.

  3. The real reason behind the nickname “Shady”? If there are witnesses he’s going to have to apologize and likely settle. Will be interesting to see how Coach Kelly handles this. Not the kind of thing you want even this early in the “off season”. Wait…why did it take 5 months to file a lawsuit though if this incident happened in Dec 2012? Maybe he’s innocent…

  4. Shades of Fred Davis getting sued by that woman over a drink in her face in the club. Same ole same ole with these broads looking for a quick payday.

  5. I’m sure that she was just sitting there on the bus quietly reading her Bible when some water splashed on her. When she asked if that’s Holy Water, she was assaulted. SMH.

  6. False imprisonment is one of the cops’ favorite trumped-up charges. Someone held her down long enough to pour a beverage on her. Despite that probably taking a few seconds, they charge “false imprisonment”.

  7. Maybe the NFL should open up the combine and draft to the federal and state prisons. There would be a bigger draft pool and prob get the same quality players with the same character that we have now, And you could get them for pennies. What do you think Rodger!!!

  8. This is why the Steelers didn’t draft him. We have standards, high standards.

    Standards of excellence.

  9. 50k is hush hush money. IF there was a case to be had the cops would have pressed charges especially if people on the bus were asking Shady to let her back on the bus. IF there was a case any lawyer worth their fee would be asking for a lot more than 50k

  10. LeSean kicked her off and then said, “This ain’t no party, this ain’t no disco This ain’t no fooling around
No time for dancing, or lovey dovey I ain’t got time for that now…”

Your players usually get charged with Rape and drug and weapon dealing.

Rothlisberger and Bam Morris ring a bell??

  12. Everyone is posting saying this is just another money-hungry groupie trying to get paid. However, her request of $50k makes her appear, at least on the surface, slightly more reasonable to me. If she were suing for some silly amount, I’d be inclined to agree. If someone punched me, held me down, and poured a drink on me. I’d want more than $50k–especially if it were a professional athlete.

  13. Can we place a ban on one of the dumbest phrases ever, “Stay classy… (fill in the blank)”

  14. Should have sued him in North Jersey where it would have been a slam dunk. 10x worse things could have happened on that bus and that Philly jury would still find “no cause”.

  15. 5 months to put together a “he sprayed water on me” lawsuit. Imagine her surprise when she pulls out the clothes she was wearing that night to present as evidence and finds out they are…you know…dry.

Typical for philly. The place where they puke on a cops daughter during a baseball games. Stay Classy, Philadelphia.

    —————————————–

I’m sure you’ve realized your mistake by now, but I’ll help you edit anyway.

Should read: “The place where one person puked on a cop’s daughter during one baseball game.”

Most of us are classy. The worst ones are the national media goldmines.

  17. Seems like a reasonable amount, you had your fun, pay the lady and move on….

  18. It should be mentioned also, packerbackerNJ, that the guy who puked on the girl at the Phillies game was from NJ and not Philadelphia.

  19. “Roe claims she was one of 15 young women who accompanied McCoy, his bodyguard and three other men on a bus trip from Philadelphia to a nightclub in New York City on Dec. 18, 2012.”

Wow. 15 women 5 men. Yikes. “false imprisonment?” I highly doubt you were forced to get on that bus.

That’s one heck of a Party and she got kicked off for complaining about getting sprayed with water…yep I can see that. As for the actual assault…why isn’t there ever a actual arrest or something like that? It’s always a lawsuit. Go straight for the wallet?

  20. So the article says she called the cops and that’s why they left her at the rest stop. Then she reported the incident to the police after…this was in December. What ever happened to that case and not this money-grab of a lawsuit?

  22. And/or bodyguard, huh? What a shocker throwing him in there too since he’s the one with money. She should be charged

  23. “she reported the incident to New Jersey police.” And…erm..they didn’t find enough evidence or her story credible enough to press charges? What does that tell us, boys & girls?

  24. Who complains when they get water on them on a party bus? Did she start melting like a witch?

  25. huge eagles and shady fan here. he’s innocent until proven guilty, but nobody needs to be trashing the plaintiff either. the fact that some women have made false claims over the years doesn’t make it ok to go start the victim-blaming.

  26. Haha now his ridiculous antics this offseason aren’t too surprising. And to think this is actually the ONE player on the Eagles that I see as a threat to the division.

Nice having you around Chip, have fun back in college.

I guess you missed the “punched in the face” part.

  28. As soon as they moved to grab her, she should have run away, McCoy would never have caught her.

  29. There is always someone in the group looking for a way to make some quick money.

Seems way to small an amount for it to be completely baseless or just some trumped up suit for money. Remember, the attorney likely will get at least a third.

  30. Guilty or not, its all about this special opportunity she feels can give her where she can squeeze some serious money out of the guy.

Notice that there are no criminal charges on this so-called incident so far.

And keep in mind that the plaintiff might have signed away any rights she might have had when she signed the waiver that was required of everyone in order to for them to gain entry to the party bus.

  31. Overnight wealth doesn’t create overnight common sense. Why are you hangin’ around common broads on a $9 Chinese bus to NYC? I’ll never understand I guess..

  32. Issue lost on all the blind Eagles slurpers – McCoy’s concussion wasn’t bad enough to prevent him from nightclubbing it up in a loud party van during mid season when the Eagles were mathematically still alive.

  33. Hey blackandblue division, I did read the article. Assaulted in front of twenty witnesses, yet never arrested? Unlike you, I can read between the lines. Proper investigation shows there was no physical assault. The body guard was never charged. 13 women and the bus driver collaborate the defenses story. Hence no arrest. But an obvious lawsuit for humiliation..
    Duh

  34. She should have been on Big Ben’s bus. She would probably be 5 months pregnant and can sue for child support soon. If you are gonna do it, do it the right way.

If you had read the article you would have realized that the assault in question isn’t for being sprayed with water (as you said) but for her getting punched in the face. You said none of this in the post I referenced.

  36. I totally do not see where false imprisonment comes from. You voluntarily became a groupie and got on the “party bus” on your own, they kicked you off the bus and were ridiculed until they LET you back on. Sounds like a shady broad who wanted to get hooked up on the bus but couldnt grab onto the wallet of the rich so they will sue. Sounds about right in todays age.

  37. This is a damned shame. $50K? GTHOH. Her only “talent” is being pretty, so she tries to get paid. So damned sad. Even if half of what she said were true it isn’t worth $50K.

  38. “Your players usually get charged with Rape”

No one on the Steelers was charged with rape. It was an accusation; no charges were ever brought because the claims were untrue.

Now your QB, that’s a different story. We all know what an animal torturing sociopath he is. That’s a fact.

Funny to hear Egal fans say “he’s innocent” when it comes to Shady assaulting a woman BUT they bring other players accusations into the conversation like they were fact. Typical Egal fans, totally confused as always.

  40. A free loader looking to make a buck. Lets see go on a ” Party”Bus to NY with pro athletes what did she think was gonna happen —- poetry reading ? Must of been a Tebow fan looking for a prayer bus

  41. Gold digger!!! 50 Gs for getting sprayed down with water and left on the side of the road? I didn’t buy the Roethlisburger BS and I don’t buy this BS. Gold diggers that is all it is.

If you are going to be an arrogant, judgmental jerk perhaps you should learn to use the language properly.

I will not even ask that you understand the difference between the burden of proof in a criminal prosecution and a civil suit. That is obviously far too much for you.

  43. Sounds like a golddigger to me. This happned in December last yr and you’re just now coming forward. Pleeease…..cry me a river!!! Somebody got paper problems and needs a scapegoat. Aint a woman alive i know gone wait that long after being punched in the face by a man. And does that even sound right? Who needs to punch a woman in the face to get her off the bus??!! This aint the 60 yr old bus driver from Cleveland “Aaaaawh you going to jail now!!!” She was physically thrown from the bus and completely embarrassed. Now she is coming for retribution. She shoulda shut her trap bout the water is the point. And as a Giants i dont even care for Shady Mccoy. But something aint stirring the kool-aid here. Motion denied, charges dropped case closed!!!

Seriously ???!!! First off, if he didn’t need his ego stroked there would be no need for the party bus and Second, just dropping her off at a bus stop would have been fine BUT there was no need to strike the woman. NO reason what so ever, would you like your own daughter treated that way? He Was Wrong !!! Hitting someone then being surprised that they are suing you based on your financial status is the very reason he should have found a different way. Ridiculous………..

  45. Chip Kelly simply needs to make this woman one of his training camp smoothies reserved for the players, and see if she magically drops the suit.

There are a lot of opportunistic gold diggers out there. If this story is true, “shady” needs to be taken to task on this one, and there are a lot of witnesses who will be able to verify or deny this happened.

You can’t do this as an NFL player and not get called on it. Heck, you can’t do this in general and not get called on it.

Felix Jones who recently signed could fill in for McCoy if Goodell decides to discipline him based on the outcome of this. Don’t worry, Eagle fans. Your 5-11 season is still intact.

  46. I don’t understand those of you that post as if this actually happened. It seems like nothing but an attempted money grab. She CLAIMS that she reported it to the police but no report has been produced. And if she did report it they obviously had no evidence because no one was charged.

  47. If she had truly been “assaulted” then McCoy would have been arrested immediately. It would be a criminal case as opposed to a civil lawsuit. I’m sure she was just being a complete angel and McCoy took it upon himself to assault her with water. And being a pro football player there’s no way he’d be strong enough to pin down a young woman himself, so he had to have his huge bodyguard do it for him. This just looks like a clear money-grab to me. The plaintiff knows that McCoy would probably rather settle instead of taking it to court. I obviously wasn’t there, so maybe Shady is at fault, but it really seems like a young women, who somehow felt wronged, going for a guy with deep pockets. LeSean, in the future, please stay away from party buses with hanger-ons! They’ll just get you into trouble.

  48. I’ll bet that this incident serves as an inspiration for a new rap song based off of an old school jam. #MidnightBusFromPhilly
