The Seattle Seahawks claimed rookie long-snapper Adam Steiner off waivers from the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday.

Steiner had signed with the Raiders following the NFL Draft and attended the team’s rookie mini-camp this past weekend. He was waived by the team on Monday.

Clint Gresham (pictured) has served as the Seahawks long-snapper the last three seasons and was tendered as a restricted free agent by the team. Gresham signed his tender and will earn $1.323 million if one the roster this season. Steiner will likely compete with Gresham for the long-snapping job as a cheaper option for the position.

The Seahawks also waived/injured defensive back Chandler Fenner on Tuesday. Fenner joined Seattle’s practice squad last December and signed a futures contract with the team in January.

That’s funny, I don’t remember him ever playing for the Vikings.

Every team with great special teams will have a really good long snapper and the funny thing is you’ll very rarely hear the guy’s name called and most fans won’t have any idea the guy is even on the team.

Bitter much? Harvin, Rice and co all came to greener pastures and can you blame them? TJack followed his OC and a chance to compete.

What does ironic have to do with anything? The team picked up a long snapper. Can any of you trolls even name the long snapper for your team? Envious is the word I would use here.

I guess this is why Green Bay locked up Brett Goode for a few more years. If you take these guys year-to-year, eventually they get too expensive as RFA’s and you have to constantly replace them.

Adam Steiner’s late father was a fraternity brother of mine. This is a great kid.
