When organizations make changes at the top, the guys on the bottom of the roster are at risk.

So with a new coach and General Manager, the Jaguars aren’t afraid to let the old guys go.

The latest to be shown the door is running back Montell Owens, according to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.

The 29-year-old back is the franchise’s all-time leader in special teams tackles. He made the team as an undrafted rookie in 2006, and was the third-longest serving player on the roster.

Only center Brad Meester and kicker Josh Scobee have been around longer.

To fill Owens’ roster spot, the Jaguars signed center Dan Gerberry.
