Getty ImagesDespite only being in existence since 1996, the Ravens have won two Super Bowls. Which will make it difficult to limit the pantheon of franchise greats to only four.
Ray Lewis and Jonathan Ogden can safely be installed in two of the spots. For the other two, consider candidates like Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, Peter Boulware, Joe Flacco, Ray Rice, Anquan Boldin, Matt Stover, Ozzie Newsome, John Harbaugh, Steve Bisciotti, Art Modell, Jamal Lewis, Chris McAlister, Haloti Ngata, Matt Birk, Willis McGahee, and Shannon Sharpe.
Nominate your favorites below.
The unveiling of team-by-team Mt. Rushmores will commence on June 2, on NBCSN’s Pro Football Talk.
What else are you gonna do in June? Watch baseball?
Micheal Jackson & Ed Reed!!!
Shannon sharpe should not be eligible for this list.
Ray Lewis
Ed Reed
Jonathan Ogden
Terrell Suggs
Gotta be Ed Reed and Jamal Lewis. That guy was unreal for a span of about 3-4 years.
john Ogden.go UCLA !!
I hope people have the common sense to not nominate Shannon Sharpe. He played 2 seasons for the Ravens.
this should be easy-
Ozzie Newsome
Ray Lewis
Ed Reed
Jonathan Ogden
Lewis Reed Ogden
Reed, Lewis, Suggs and Ogden. No other choices.
Peter Angelos, Robert Griffin, Pierre Garcon and London Fletcher. #TheRedskinsaretheonlyNFLteaminMaryland

100% agree.
Jonathan Ogden
Ray Lewis
Ed Reed
Those three are easy. The fourth one is tough. Candidates include
Jamal Lewis
Art Modell
Terrell Suggs
Ray Rice
Joe Flacco
Ogden
Lewis
Reed
Modell
With apologies to Cleveland — Modell is a controversial choice for sure but without him Baltimore might still not have a team. Baltimore is a great football city and never should have been robbed of the Colts.
1. Ray Lewis
2. Jon Ogden
3. Ed Reed
4. Jamal Lewis
JONATHAN OGDEN, RAY LEWIS, ED REED and OZZIE NEWSOME.
The first three are no-brainers. The fourth eventually may be Ray Rice. But until there’s a truly deserving player, the architect of the Ravens’ Super Bowl XXXV & XLVII championship teams is undoubtedly the best candidate.
Ray Lewis, Jon Ogden, Ed Reed & Art Modell.
Flacco will hopefully bounce reed be day but not yet.
Ray Lewis Ed Reed i will say Flacco because by the time its all said and done he should be great but we will see and lastly shannon sharpe
Lewis Ogden Reed and Newsome. Still hard to believe they drafted 2 HOFers with their first 2 picks as a franchise.
for a team that has been in existence for 17 years to have drafted 3 hall of famers and kept 2 for their whole careers just shows how great the ravens are. therefore my 4 nominees are ray lewis, jon ogden, ed reed and for the 4th i cant decide btween modell, jamal, and stover. any of the 3 deserve a spot. go ravens!
Ogden
Lewis
Reed
Stover (wouldnt have won first super bowl without his foot)
Ray Lewis
Jonathan Ogden
Ozzie Newsome
Art Modell
Deer antler spray

Don Samuel
Ed Garland
Ray Lewis, Jonathan Ogden, Ed Reed, Art Modell…..gosh that was tough. It’s almost impossible to have a wrong answer but only four can get in. Had to go with bonafide hof’s , and damn sure couldn’t leave out the man who brought NFL football back to where it belonged in the first place!
Art Modell needs 2 spots, one with a browns hat, one with a ravens hat. Can we nominate browns players as that’s who the ravens really are!
Lewis, Reed, Ogden, and Stover. no way we win the 2000 Superbowl without Stover.

Is this red skins guy for real? We are world champs. You are chumps. And you haven’t been a winner since the ravens have been in Baltimore. You my friend are pathetic, and make the Racist RedSkins look even worse. You’re right about one thing. Md only has one football team. The Ravens. That other team can’t fit a stadium in their own city, cause its not even a real city! RgIII is gonna be such a bust. Just like Sean Taylor. BUST! Done for! Losers.

This should be condsidered a BALTIMORE honor
Unitas never wanted a single thing to do with the colts once they left
Ray Lewis
Johnny Unitas
Raymond Berry
Jonathan Ogden
Flacco after a few more years playings
And a second would be Ray Lewis Art Modell Ozzie Newsome and Johnny Unitus since he was a Baltimore legend
I nominate Ray Lewis and three of his partners in the limo. An honorable mention goes to the bloody suit.
R.Lewis #52 maybe GOAT MLB
J.Ogden #75 HOF LT
E.Reed #20 definitely GOAT FS
M.Stover #3 No TDs in 5 games,still won 3/5 off of this man’s foot.
HM
J.Flacco – Best QB young franchise has ever had.
J.Lewis – 1 of only 7 2000yard RBs in NFL history.
T.Suggs – Franchise sack leader. Also ugliest player
H.Ngata – Dominant DT/NT.
P.Boulware – Former franchise sack leader.
T.Siragusa – Terrible sideline reporter/Immovable DT
A.Modell – Cleveland’s Finest
O.Newsome – First black GM in NFL history. Would be a HOF GM if he wasn’t already a HOF TE.
D.Mason – Franchise’s best WR. Gritty veteran who just would not quit.
J.Harbaugh – Best coach in franchise history, also prolific as a coach in NFL history for leading franchise to postseason success in first 5 seasons with a rookie QB in first season.
Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, J O, Ozzie
Steelers fan here, but doing this list with all due respect as a person that has followed the Ravens (Biggest rival) since their inception.
Art Modell – I know in Cleveland he is public enemy #1, but he did leave Cleveland and bring football back to Baltimore.
Ray Lewis – One of if not the best MLB in the history of the sport.
Ogdon – Ravens first draft pick and probably the best offensive lineman the Ravens ever had.
Ozzie Newsome – One of the best GM’s in the NFL (any Raven fan disagrees with this should be flogged by the rest of the Ravens fans).
Jessica Robertson – burned pictures from that night
Person who dumped the laundry bag with the bloody suit in the trash bin
Joseph Sweeting And Reginald Oakley for keeping heir mouth shut
R.Lewis, J.Ogden, E.Reed and the 4th has to be Newsome. Although font know many Ravens fans who didn’t love Stover.
I love the trash on this thread. It represents what the ravens are a joke…no respect from anyone.

Ray Lewis
Jonathan Ogden
And at the bottom of the Mountain, Tony Siragusa should have a concessions stand.
Jonathan Ogden, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Shannon Sharpe
1). Ray Lewis (best defensive player in NFL history)
2). Ed Reed (best safety in NFL history)
3). Jonathan Ogden (one of the 2 or 3 best LTs in NFL history)
4). Terrell Suggs (a future hall of famer, Defensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year and still has several good years to go).
I’d put that Mt. Rushmore up against just about any team in the league’s (aside from maybe the Niners)……and that’s in only SIXTEEN years!
Matt Stover…

Ed Reed and Ozzie Newsome.
No one has said… Jim Brown
Richard Lollar and Jacinth Baker
1. Art Modell. 2. Ozzie Newsome. 3. Ray Lewis. 4. Ed “Two Tickets To Paradise” Reed
Ray Lewis, Jonathan Ogden, and Ozzie Newsome should be considered shoe-ins. It’s really the fourth spot that is the hardest.
I’m going to say Joe Flacco. That might seem a little shocking, but keep reading.
I’d actually put a few players mentioned by Florio above Flacco in terms of competency at their position. For example, Reed, Suggs, Ngata, and Jamal Lewis have all been considered the best in the league at their position over a season or more, but Joe has finally squelched the notion that the Ravens don’t have a franchise caliber quarterback. That in itself lends a tremendous amount of stability to the team.
There is nothing more debilitating for a franchise in modern football than to have a quarterback that just isn’t cutting it and is losing support from front office on down to the other players in the locker room.
Lewis, Reed, Ogden and Flacco.
Ray Lewis
Jonathan Ogden
Rahim Moore
Chris Culliver
Super Bowl win, and subsequent recognition as a truly elite franchise, wouldn’t have been possible without those last two buffoons
If this is a Ravens Rushmore then Johnny Unitas Berry, Lenny Moore and others cannot be part of it since they were Baltimore Colts. Let’s go with Ray Lewis, Jon Ogden, Ed Reed and Ozzie Newsome.
I’m going to go with
ED REED
RAY LEWIS
JONATHAN OGDEN
TERRELL SUGGS
Jamal Lewis is a close 5th. If he would have emassed all 12,000+ yards of his career there, he probably gets on the list. But 3k+ was with the Browns, a division rival.
Also considering Suggs has atleast 4 more years to pile on the sacks, he could be top 15 all-time as a 3-4 rush linebacker. A Future Hall of Famer, Defensive rookie of the year, Defensive player of the year, 1 Superbowl Ring, and already 4 more Pro Bowls than Jamal Lewis, he just edges him out imo.
No mentions for Billick?
nofool you and your fellow steeler fans who come on here are the joke and the trash. you talk respect but you dont really know what it means because you cant give it

Now is the time for the Ravens to put up or shut up. If the franchise really believes that Art Modell should go in the NFL HOF, then show it and make him one of your Mt. Rushmore designees.
Johnny Unitas, J.O., Ozzie Newsome, Ray Lewis .
LOSER,LOSER,LOSER,AND,LOSER. THE TEAM FROM CLEVELAND ravens.
Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Jonathan Ogden, Oz, Flacco!
Lewis, Ogden, Reed, and Flacco.
make sure you include Ray Lewis’s lawyer.
Considering Ed Reed has only played in a Ravens uniform and holds numerous defensive NFL records… I’d say he has to be there. Even if recent history has turned some Ravens fans against him.
That fourth spot is Stovers… But ONLY for the time being. Someone will eventually take that spot. Someone who didn’t start out as a Cleveland Brown. Probably Joe Flacco if he doesn’t completely fall off after this Super Bowl victory and huge contract.
Jerome Boger
the three guys that held on jacoby’s kickoff return

this is the most obvious Mt Rushmore. whoever said Ozzie, Ray, Ed Reed and Ogden got it right
Not saying that the Ravens haven’t had great players on their team but IMO no one deserves to be standing next to Ray Lewis! He should have his very own mountain! And like I said i’m not taking away from other players i’m just saying Ray Lewis was that great of a player! So for all of you who i’m sure are bashing him just remember we are talking about Ray Lewis the FOOTBALL player not whatever else happened in his life outside of the sport! And besides i’d bet if he showed up at your door you wouldn’t have to many mean things to say about him! ; ) Much respect Mr. Lewis it was a honor watching you play!
Matter of fact let’s just start calling it Mt. Raymore!

I agree Lewis, Ogden, and Reed are no-brainers. You can certainly make a case for Newsome, but I prefer players to office guys. Jamal Lewis only had a few good years, so I vote for Flacco, giving him my faith that he’ll be playing well for years. Given what the Ravens are paying him, he’d better.

I love the trash on this thread. It represents what the ravens are a joke…no respect from anyone.
That’s not it at all. People may hate the Ravens but they do respect them. That’s because the Ravens are a pretty good football team last time I checked. Everybody has an opinion on Ray Lewis one way or another. And even a diehard Ray hater has no choice but to acknowledge his talent on the field.
Ray Lewis GOAT MLB
Ed Reed GOAT Free Safety
J.O. – one of the top 3 LT in league hx
Ozzie – 1st black GM, would make it as a front office person if he didn’t already make it as a player.
For fool – what it indicates is jealousy over the Ravens winning 2 SBs despite being one of the youngest teams in the NFL.
For logical – you and your team is irrelevant.
Ray Lewis
Jonathan Ogden
Ozzie Newsome
Joe Flacco
Wow, not even one mention of the coach that led them to their first Super Bowl. No love foe Brian Billick at all. Sad.
Ozzie Newsome
Ray Lewis
Jonathan Ogden
Ed Reed
Honorable mention–Not too many that I can think of. Most of the guys mentioned had a hand in one of the team’s titles but weren’t all that dominant overall as players. I’ll say Steve Bisciotti (for finally shoving Modell out), Jamal Lewis, and Terrell Suggs.
No freaking way Art Modell deserves anything. If Ray Lewis is really guilty of murder, how about Modell murdering the hopes and dreams of who knows how many Browns fans?
1.Ray Lewis
2.Jonathon Ogden
3.Ozzie Newsome
4.Art Modell (duh)
this is actually one of the easier ones:
Ray Lewis
Jonathan Ogden
Ed Reed
Ozzie Newsome
Ozzie is fitting because there haven’t been many teams whose long-term success can be associated with a single GM to the degree they have…and also fitting that no offensive skill player (QB,RB,WR,TE) be on the Raven’s Mt Rushmore…
Ozzie is #1 but player-wise:
Ray
John
Ed
Joe/Suggs coin flip
Ray Lewis, Jonathan Ogden, Ed Reed and Matt Stover. I’m not listing any front office types just players. Matt Stover was “Automatic Matt” during our formative years and as said before we would not have made our first Super Bowl run without him. We went like five games without an offensive touchdown and Matt was money in the bank.
The rest of you haters should just lay low for this discussion, especially you IllogicalVoiceSays.
Ed Reed is obvious. Suggs vs Ozzie is close but Ozzie has honestly been more important. #repeat
although yes Stover is an easy #5 over any of the part timers
Ray, Reed, Ogden, Suggs.

I want to say Ozzie…so I am. Ozzie. Ozzie Newsome has meant so much to that team as far as drafting good to great talent year after year.
Missing the cut was Stover, Modell (I found out in boot camp that he was moving my team to Baltimore), Suggs.
Ray Lewis GOAT MLB
Ed Reed GOAT Free Safety

There is absolutely nothing to be jealous about. What do the ravens have that the steelers had and lost and regained many times over. I enjoy trying to keep your unwarranted arrogance reasonable.
Unwarranted arrogance? It took the Steelers 40 YEARS to win a championship with only one playoff appearance (humiliating loss) in the first 37 years! The Ravens got it done in five years and got it done twice in just 17 years after making the playoffs more times than not. When your 8-8 team can equal that degree of success, give us a call. But I suggest you focus on dragging your team out of the basement since it usually takes the Steelers four decades to screw their heads back on after having the stuffing kicked out of them so many times. Sad. Smh.
in looking back at the steeler mt rushmore comments there were very few negative comments by ravens fans. yet trolling steeler fans couldnt wait to come on here with their useless comments and then have tghe arrogance to talk about respect. if you dont want to be vilifed then stay away. it goes both ways…i get it. but you cant have it both ways.

_____________
Listen, it isn’t like your team was an expension team like the New Browns, the Jaguars, Panthers or Texans. Your team was the old Browns and Started with players like Anthony Pleasant, Matt Stover and other Browns to eventually form a playoff team after the owner abruptly moved the team to Baltimore to spite the Cleveland city brass (and because Blatimore offered 10 million plus extra incentives). Basically, you took the old Browns, so the Browns/Steelers rivalry became Ravens/Steelers.

HM: Bouleware, McGahee and McAlister.
Future/Potential: Flacco, Ray Rice and even Torrey Smith. I think it is too early to put these guys there; but they very well could have a case. Flacco actually leads these guys to another Superbowl or two, and even wins one or two more, then he would have to go on the Rushmore.
Boldin I think did more in AZ even though he didn’t win a lot. Modell is tough but I agree, without him, Baltimore might not have a team again, even if it burned CLE. It worked out, they got a team again; unfortunately, however, not very good ones. Thought things would change with Halsam but might not at all.
John Harbaugh could be one day, Sharpe was a Bronco more than a Raven, Birk was a Viking more than a Raven (IMO) and McGahee gets honorable mention here because his better days IMO were in Baltimore; though he was decent in Buffalo and despite injuries, not bad in Denver either.
Joemontanaflacco……….get real, the Ravens were not a true expansion team and did not start from scratch. They picked at the top of the draft in the beginning and it paid off quickly. Sure it took the Steelers 40 years to win a playoff game, but look at what they did in the next 40 years. Plus they drafted a dozen Hall of Famers in a 7 or 8 year span. Sure, the success as “Ravens” is there, but they were the Browns before that. Also, that 8-8 team beat the Ravens’ 10-6 team with a 3rd string QB in Baltimore last year. Plus the Steelers are 3-0 in the playoffs against the “Ravens” all-time with a lead in the series head-to-head by 7 games. So….it is the Ravens that have to match the Steelers success and not the other way around. I am not trashing the Ravens because it is stupid to do so, just stating facts.
Having said that……….

While he did restore football to Baltimore, I leave out Modell because most of his accomplishments happened elsewhere.
“It is the Ravens that have to match the Steelers success.”
No thank you. I’d rather not wait 40 years for a championship. I don’t think the Browns do either since they won their division the very first year of existence. All told, bragging about Steelers’ “success” is like bragging about getting a college degree after 20 semesters.
Excluding front office folks (ie: Oz and Art), here’s what I got:
Ray Lewis, Jon Ogden, Ed Reed, Jamal Lewis
I could make a case for Stover, Flacco, Suggs. People forget how dominating Jamal was in his prime. That dude just trucked people. I was there when he ran for 295 against Cleveland. He was unstoppable that season!
Ray Lewis
Jonathan Ogden
Ed Reed
Ozzie Newsome- Built the Ravens to win Championships with Hall Of Fame Players.
Art Modell- If it wasn’t for Modell there wouldn’t be a NFL team in Baltimore.
Didn’t Ozzie Newsome become GM after the Ravens won their first Super Bowl?
once again…yes the ravens came from cleveland. but they are a completely different franchise then the browns. all the browns unis records etc were left in cleveland for them. the ravens are a seperate franchise with seperate records. and as far as the head to head stuff, ive always been told that super bowl wins are what matters. and as we all know since 96 its 2 to 2.
Ray Lewis

Nice pic of Ray. I will remember him lighting people up all over the field, not about to cry before he begins to speak in quatrain. Anyway, this is an absolute no brainer:
1. Ozzie Newsome (Bar-none best GM, ever)
2. Ray Lewis
3. J. Ogden
4. Ed Reed
If we are including the old Balt Colts then remove Reed and add Johnny U.
It can only be:
Ray Lewis
Jonathan Ogden
Ed Reed
Ozzie Newsome
If you want to take out the Front Office, throw in Todd Heap.
Lewis, Reed, Suggs, Ogden
Given that Cleveland gets to keep Jim Brown, Baltimore should be able to keep Johnny U
so Johnny U, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Ozzie Newsome
Birk, McGahee, and Sharpe should not have even been mentioned.

Not discounting how important Ozzie Newsome has been to the Ravens’ success, but one has to assume he’s on the Browns Mt. Rushmore, and I don’t think anyone should be on two Mt Rushmores.
I think the nominations are pretty easy.
1. Modell. Without Modell, we don’t have the Ravens.
2. Ray Lewis – Hall of Famer. No debate.
3. Jonathan Ogden – Hall of famer
4. Ozzie Newsome – He and Ray were the 1 constant and he has put together 2 Super Bowl teams.
You cant put Art Modell on our Mt. Rushmore. Art brought us the team and every day I am thankful for it, but Ozzie built the team….and I wont have two non-players on our Mt. Rushmore.
1. Jon Ogden
2. Ray Lewis
