Arian Foster on crutches, but should be fine for camp

Arian Foster AP

The thought of running back Arian Foster on crutches could derail most of the preseason optimism about the Texans.

But coach Gary Kubiak said Wednesday that his star back “will be fine” for the start of training camp, via John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Foster was carted off after an OTA practice yesterday with a calf strain, and the invocation of the cart always triggers a slight panic.

But with six weeks or so to recover, the Texans are apparently not worried about his availability, though Kubiak called it “a pretty good calf strain.”

Crutches are nothing … he’ll be in a full body cast by week 3.

Then in week one against a stout Chargers defense, back to crutches.

Glad I picked up Tate in my dynasty league to hold the Foster owner hostage.

I’m not a Texans fan but is it just me or do the Texans have alot of downplayed injuries? Either the coaches are in utter denial so they won’t alert the masses, or they have the best injury severity luck in the world. They have been dropping like flies since end of last season but yet Kubiak and Wade keep acting as if all is well by the time training camp starts. Yea ok, ill belive it when I see it , they’ll be lucky if theses dudes are healthy by the start of the season let alone T.C.

Yeah…. Not that worried about San Diego on week 1, but Baltimore, Seattle, and San Fran in weeks 3,4, & 5!

    @bmoreravens

We have ALL sorts of injuries no ones talking about.

    Ed Reed (Hip surgery)
Brian Cushing (recovering from knee surgery)
    Brooks Reed (Offseason surgery)
    Darryl Sharpton (Hip Injury)
    Brennen Williams (Knee)
    Derek Newton (knee)
    Arian Foster (Calf)

Texans had big issues last year on the right side of their line and now with injuries mounting on the right side they look to be worse there than they were last year.

I’m still not sure why they haven’t reached out to Eric Winston… This late in the off season he has got to be had on the cheap and he obviously is VERY familiar with the system.

Foster will be fine sitting out a couple/few weeks, Tate needs the work anyways, Tate dint look right last year after a good 2011. Let Foster heal and heal right. Next man up!

This guy is Priest Holmes Part 2. A ridiculously productive 3-4 years and then an injury does him in.

This is why you need two rb’s in the NFL.

This wouldn’t have happened if he didn’t give up eating meat. There, someone had to say it.

This guy will NEVER be healthy again. Texans window has CLOSED
