So much for that quiet Memorial Day weekend.

Buccaneers safety Cody Grimm was arrested in Virginia on public intoxication charges, his second such arrest since March.

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Grimm was arrested at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at a hotel in Leesburg, Va., where he was attending a wedding. Obviously it was quite a reception.

While that charge is a misdemeanor, it could create a bigger problem, since he was arrested in Christianburg, Va., on March 10 for the same charge. He was given a deferred disposition in that case, which would have allowed that charge to be dropped under certain conditions. I’m not the lawyer in this operation, but just guessing that getting arrested for the same thing two months later was not one of those conditions.

Coach Greg Schiano said in a statement from the team he was “disappointed.”

“Our players know our expectations on and off the field and we take these matters very seriously,’’ Schiano said. “When we feel we have obtained all the necessary information, we will act accordingly.”

Grimm wasn’t on stable footing with the Bucs anyway, having taken a pay cut this offseason to remain.
