The Vikings announced the signing of former Titans and Texans linebacker Stanford Keglar on Wednesday.

Keglar, 27, has not appeared in an NFL game since 2010 with Houston. He was a fourth-round pick of the Titans and played two seasons as a reserve with Tennessee (2008, 2009) before moving on to Houston for part of the 2010 campaign. The Texans waived him in September 2011.

In 2012, Keglar played in three games with the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League.

Keglar (6-2, 250) has previously played outside linebacker in a 4-3 front, which Minnesota employs. His signing gives the Vikings nine linebackers on the roster.

At last the missing piece to the Super Bowl… oh wait… maybe just a hopeful upgrade over the practice squad type guy we released last week.

Why can’t I suggest that Urlacher might have been a better signing than this guy? stevent92 can suggest that signing Keglar means automatic trip to the Super Bowl. I think that might be a saracast remark, with the interpretation being that the Vikings will in fact not be going to the Super Bowl. He can say that, but I, a 32+ fan of the Vikings, cannot mention that I would have pereferred that the Vikings sign Brian Urlacher and not Stanford Keglar? Very confusing.

They would bring back EJ Henderson but he says if he is making 5 times less than another player it will effect his mentality. Sad really because he can still play. 2 weeks before camp breaks the headline will read Vikings release Stanford Keglar.

Michael Mauti is their biggest hope.

This is totally outside the usual Viking approach; true, this is player who ordinarily would make any of the other 31 team’s rosters but usually the Vikings look for other team’s big name cast offs (Urlacher, Jennings) on the downside of their career so they can pay them big money. Forget production on the field, that would take a draft and develop approach and look what happened to Percy Harvin, a rising star that wanted to win so he logically asked for a trade.

He’s in it to win it

Take it easy people. You are aware that every NFL team needs bodies for training camp, right? This isn’t the missing piece to the puzzle. I’m not even sure why PFT is writing about it.

Well, anything to improve that horrible defense from last year.

I will be very disappointed in the English language if his semiofficial nickname doesn’t turn out to be “Kegles”.

    Audie Cole!

    Michael Mauti

Both better options for MLB in 2013 than an old and injured Brian Urlacher who would command 10 times the money just for his name.
