Broncos move Jammer to safety

After the Broncos flirted with safety Charles Woodson, safety Mike Adams wondered what the team may do next.

Well, the Broncos decided to acquire cornerback Quentin Jammer — and move him to safety.

A tweet from Lindsay Jones of USA Today that was retweeted by Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego but then deleted by Jones as an apparent violation of Denver’s in-practice reporting policies indicates that Jammer was working with the safeties in individual drills.

It’s not as if the tweet gave away any secrets.  Mike Klis of the Denver Post previously reported that Jammer, who never has played safety in 11 NFL seasons, will move to safety in Denver.

    Isn’t Jammer like 5′ 9″ and 125 lbs?

  3. chargerdillon says: May 30, 2013 2:31 PM

The Chargers talked about this for years, but you see….we had AJ Smith as a GM and if you track how poorly of a GM he was at finding good draft picks you’d know the Chargers still need Jammer to play both CB and Saftey for the Chargers with what AJ left us.

Seems a whole lotta guys are betting the farm on a QB who’s one good shot away from retirement

QJ is past his prime. Solid player for us Charger fans but this move should have been done 4 years ago. This would have saved him from all the whiplash from turning his head late.

  5. mrgroovesd says: May 30, 2013 2:37 PM

I guess he’s moving to that position while he was a Bronco. Should’ve moved there 2 years ago.

    6’0″ 205

  7. shayeezy says: May 30, 2013 2:48 PM

no, he’s 6’0″ 204. i saw this coming.. he’s still a very tough and instinctive player, but seems to have lost a step since his younger days. safety would be a good fit.

  8. issa1100 says: May 30, 2013 2:52 PM

    5’9 125??? are u insane he’s 6’1 205

  9. pagoclown says: May 30, 2013 2:53 PM

    Jammer measured at 6’0” 204lbs.

A reasonable size for a free safety.

  10. camdenyard says: May 30, 2013 3:07 PM

The Donkeys don’t need a safety. The ones they have are fine just as they are.

He must own a winery in Denver.

  12. humb0lt says: May 30, 2013 3:44 PM

I admire QJ, but if they are going to put him in a position where he has to try to cover Antonio Gates, Bronco fans aren’t going to like what happens.

  13. lightninglucci says: May 30, 2013 4:04 PM

Unlike most corners, Jammer is a pretty solid tackler. He’s also a class act. I wish him the best, except when playing his old team.

im not here to bash jammer,he gave us great years but as all players do father time has caught up..moving him to safety will extend his career a bit for sure.we all though he would be moved to safety here but depth prevented that.

now he is listed at 6″0 ft tall ,but he is not 6″0 tall . he closer to 5″11. i have met him on several occasions and took pics with him.i am 6″0 tall and i could see over him when next to him.it happens all the time player are listed taller than they are.he is a hrad hitter and will prob be fine.

now with all this being said and broncos fans talking alot of crap about the chargers, arent you a bit concerned if you are signing players from a team that you have said sucks and is in decline????the broncos do love to sign san diego players though and it hasnt really worked all the great either. ask anthony miller, rod bernstine, jamal williams how it all worked out! now shaun phillips and jammer..brocos are going for it now and the window is small.. if peyton goes down it will come down like a house of cards as they have no quality backup QB and a qb of the future..if i were a fan of the broncos this little we are all in with peyton is gonna set the franchise back 3-4 years after peyton is gone in a couple years..

You made a lot of sense until this statement.
Name me one, ONE team that isn’t royally F’d should their starting QB go down.

    …. I’m waiting.

Humbolt: I think the injury report has done a terrific job of covering Gates the past few years. I wonder which injury will pop up this year and be blamed for him not being best TE, meanwhile Chargers fans and personnel refuse to admit the obvious, Gates is a broken down shell of his former self.

  18. jack3dsd says: May 30, 2013 5:21 PM

your all wrong he is 6.002356 feet tall and 203.8 lbs prototype player

Wow, I know you obviously hate Denver and the Broncos but come one man. If you knew anything about our brass you know that they are not going to set us up for failure 3-4 years after. I don’t think that I have ever read a more bitter comment from a SD fan in my life. Oh and btw Brock Osweiler is turning heads in OTAs so if you saw last year’s draft you would know that we used a high draft pick for him. And about being on the decline? Rivers? Come one man eat your words. Oh yea one more thing, Louis Vasquez is a quality steal and Phillips had 9 1/2 sacks last year. I shouldn’t have to tell you that though since you’re so smart right?

  21. broncogang says: May 30, 2013 6:37 PM

Does anyone even realize that he may not even make the team? Remember Drayton Florence of last year? We all thought that he was going to start and then boom cut. This is a depth signing so all you Charger fans that think we’re reaching need to pull your head outta your A__. Phillips and Vasquez are both quality signings and you know it. Vasquez allowed only 2.5 sacks as a Charger. Phillips was always a beast against us. 9 1/2 sacks. Check the stats..

  22. rohlo says: May 30, 2013 7:42 PM

    @broncogang

so whats the broncos excuse gonna be when they choke again this year? PAPER CHAMPS is all i see now with the broncos, just like we saw with the chargers in san diego from 06-10..

my point is all the bronco fans use ta say all kinds of crap about phillips and now all of a sudden he is cool.i will admit phillips for that price is a steal, but stupid on his part casue he could have got more money had he waited till after june 1st cuts and injuries coming up.same with jammer.u all are hypocrites man! never said vasquez wasnt good u obviously havent seen his slight injury history and he hasnt always be consistent till recently.

Brock Osweiler is turning head in ota’s… LMAO really!! OTA’S alot of players turn heads in ota’s ..it is ota’s dude get a clue it is not game play !big difference! jamarcus russell turned heads in ota’s too! yeah we now how that turned out!im pretty sure tim couch back in the day turned heads in ota’s. lol

you were probobly one of the many bronco fans on tebows n u t s when he was on his run there.alteast he won a playoff game for you guys, what did peyton manning do? 1 and done!!!

you can have all the chargers castoffs you want.there is a reason they are former chargers.it just cracks me up when they are chargers you all say they suck, but when the broncos go out and sign them they are all of a sudden great pickups..

peyton manning 9-11 career playoff recod and 8 one and dones in the playoffs and his cold weatehr record is even worse..have fun falling flat on your face again..peyton and cold weather is like oil and water..it doesnt mix!! he plays in the cold late season denver and if u all dont choke and make it to the superbowl it is in new york city …

all this superbowl talk is reminds me of all the philly superbowl talk a few years ago and they fell flat on their face!! it is all setting you guys up for a big dissapointment!

—-yeah because before last season and a half the broncos were doing so much winning!!! give me a break! by the way the broncos were one and done last year it seems pretty much the status quo. u act as if the chargers havent been winning alot of games from 04-10 jammer has been on alot of winning teams in san diego.

I like it, Jammer has instincts, quality person.

  25. sc711 says: Jun 1, 2013 9:50 PM

Broncos were not one and done, please think next time.

  26. slimdee777 says: Jun 4, 2013 1:44 PM

Whazup with all the haters saying “one good hit and the broncos season is over”?….the SAME holds true with any team that has a marquee quarterback…I hate to crush your patsy lil’ hopes and dreams , but manning will be well protected…he made it through last year and he’ll make it through this one.
