There might be a “dogfight” brewing with defensive end Dion Jordan about his rookie deal, but the Dolphins had no such problem getting second-round cornerback Jamar Taylor under contract.

Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports that Taylor has agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the team that will pay him $3.6 million. With that out of the way, Taylor can now focus on getting healthy and back on the field.

Taylor had sports hernia surgery recently and isn’t expected to be available during OTAs or next month’s minicamp. Taylor hasn’t conceded that he’ll miss those sessions and vows to be back in action for training camp at the latest.

“As long as I’m back healthy and I’m back running, I’m going to try to make it happen from there,” Taylor said. “It adds fuel to the fire.”

Assuming Taylor makes a full return for camp, his absence now might not wind up hurting his bid for playing time during the regular season all that much. Brent Grimes and Richard Marshall are playing with the first team right now with Taylor projected to be at least the third man on the depth chart.
