Quentin Jammer calls Denver the best place to win a Super Bowl

Denver Broncos OTA's at Dove Valley AP

Quentin Jammer says he signed with the Broncos this week because he wants a Super Bowl ring.

Jammer, the defensive back who had played his entire 11-year NFL career in San Diego, said at his introductory press conference in Denver today that his move was all about winning.

“Obviously I had spent so much time in San Diego, to uproot and leave and go somewhere and uproot your family, it’s hard. It’s a difficult thing to do,” he said. “But when you’re forced to, you have decisions to make. The next decision that you have to make is you have three to four more years left in you. What are you going to do with your life? I want to win a championship. . . . Hands down, if you look across the league, what better place to go than Denver to have a chance to play for a championship?

Jammer said he doesn’t particularly care whether he plays cornerback or safety in the Broncos’ secondary, as long as he’s doing something that helps the team achieve that goal of winning the Super Bowl.

“I always considered myself a football player, not really put a label on myself as a corner or a safety,” Jammer said. “This is the game of football, and I feel like I can be plugged in anywhere on the defense and play — other than the big hosses up front. Any of the skill positions in the back end I can be plugged in and play. I wanted to come in and help this football team as much as I can. . . . I can pretty much cover anybody on the field. I’ve been doing it for 11 years. Why stop now?”

Jammer doesn’t want to stop without a ring.

When someone can tell me the last time a player said a team other than his own was the best place to win a ring I’ll concede that Jammer’s words are worth one iota.

Who can blame him? In the best year of his career when the team went 14-2 they fired the coach and took the team in a different direction….A LOSING DIRECTION.

Great player, best of luck to him.

  10. flash1283 says: May 30, 2013 7:38 PM

Please, Denver isn’t winning anything. Not with MEGA HEAD as QB.

All this did was make them a playoff team for a couple of years then when MEGA HEAD retires they will be in the same place they were 2 years ago, a bad team with no QB.

  11. bigdthornton says: May 30, 2013 7:45 PM

I love how aggressive Denver is being! I think Jammer will be used to match up with double TE sets with Chris Harris on the TE. Allowing Phillips, Miller, and Wolfe to bring the pain, he is also a very good tackler. So Denver dime package is Champ, Cromartie, Adams, Moore, Harris, and Jammer. Is it just me or does that sound pretty damn good?

  12. bigdthornton says: May 30, 2013 7:47 PM

@Flash, we were a playoff team before Manning. You remember that guy named Tebow that Denver won the division with?

I’m not going to bet the ranch or anything, but the afc is pretty open.

The only way Quentin Jammer will get close to the field for the Super Bowl is as a SportsCenter special correspondent.

    respect jammer!!

but now all this talk is starting to soundalot like the philadelphia eagles of a couple years ago.. it also reminds me of years in san diego of superbowl talk left and right in the offseason penning the phrase “paper champs” ..lots of pressure is gonna be on these broncos this year..as of right now they are the paper champs of 2013! nothing in this league is a garantee.. if they dont make it to the superbowl or even lose there are gonna be alot of dissapointed bronco fans.. you add the pressure+a old,but great qb who has a horrible playoff record at 9-11 and 8 of those being one and done losses in the playoffs and spinkle in the fact he isnt very effective in cold weather elements which is what you have in denver in playoff time and elements if they make it to nyc superbowl.. lots of obsticles and can your broncos handle the pressure??? cant forget the unpredictable injury situation every tema in the league goes thru already!!! lots of things can happen..did anyone really see the ravenes winning the superbowl last year,or the giants beating the favored patriots twice in 5 yearsin the sb? thats why they play the games!!

go ahead and crown them the paper champs for now!!! we all know how the paper champs thing works out here in san deigo!! go ahead you can have it!

wasnt cromartie on that “super bowl dream team” in philly a couple years ago??? lmao this is gonna be the second coming of that scenario.. all this superbowl talk rediculous!! when was the last time the pre-season favorite won the whole enchilada??? you guys are setting yourselves up for a big dissapointment talking like that.. the broncos will be good , yes! but nowadays it is just stupid to talk about the superbowl before halfway thru the season because most of the early season favorites are out of it or as great as expected! lately it seems it is that team that comes out of nowhere to win or get there..the 49ers 2 years ago nobody could have thought they were gonna be in the nfc champ game..

the broncos will be good no doubt ,but there are alot of good teams out there!! nobody thought the ravens were gonna win the superbowl last year!

  22. rohlo says: May 30, 2013 8:09 PM

    cromartie is garbage!

  23. bearclaw69 says: May 30, 2013 8:10 PM

As a SD fan, I hate to see him go, especially to a division rival. He was a durable, loyal player who exhibited quiet leadership and stayed out of trouble. He’s lost a couple of steps at corner, and has a proclivity to draw some interference penalties now and then, but he could tackle and wasn’t afraid to do it hard. I felt SD should have moved him to safety last year, but the coaching staff apparently didn’t think that was a good idea. Best wishes to Quentin and to the Broncos. If he couldn’t win a ring here, I hope he is able to in Denver.

  24. rohlo says: May 30, 2013 8:11 PM

peyton mannin 9-11 in playoffs with 8 of the losses one and done i nthe playoffs loses.. cold weather record including last year is horrible as well!!!

  27. ratdogs says: May 30, 2013 8:29 PM

When you sign in May..you are camp fodder.
Quentin probably would have said the same thing if the Jets, Raiders, Bills, Jags, or Panthers signed him in April.

  28. gadzod says: May 30, 2013 8:33 PM

Being a Bills fan, I might have some bias, but the best place to win a Super Bowl would probably be either Buffalo or Cleveland. If either team wins a Super Bowl, the party would last for a month. It would seem like it will never end. Both cities are just DYING for a Championship. Cleveland won a World Series in 1948, and a NFL Championship in 1964 before the merger. Buffalo Bills won a AFL Championship last time in 1965, so neither city has ever won a major sports Championship. Just imagine how crazy those cities would be. If it’s a city like Denver, they’d just be like “Yay, we won another one.” Just my personal opinion, though.

  29. millersirish1986 says: May 30, 2013 8:37 PM

Peyton was on the wrong end of spygate for the first part of his career. Without that peyton would have atleast 2 rings. #better then brady

  30. beardinals says: May 30, 2013 8:40 PM

That’s solidifies it. All 32 teams are ready to win the SB.

Can someone also look for the history of all the ring chasers throughout history? I’m gonna bet the outlook isn’t too sunny.

  31. taintedsaints2009 says: May 30, 2013 8:43 PM

  33. saints4life57 says: May 30, 2013 8:52 PM

So what I am hearing here is that Denver is the best place to win a SB because it’s one of the only places that would take him? Ohh yeah umm the Philly Soul is the best place to win a championship! hehe!

  34. seahawk12man says: May 30, 2013 9:04 PM

Actually, Seattle is the best place to win a Super Bowl in 2013-14 and beyond, but sure Jammer what ever u say!

  35. broncsfan72 says: May 30, 2013 9:05 PM

It’s the media that’s crowned the Broncos champs before the season has started. Believe me as a Broncos fan we know otherwise. None of us even know what our teams are gonna look like yet. Hell Jammer may not make the cut. Just relax Peyton haters. No dream team here. We do have one goal. The same as every other team. WIN IT ALL!

  36. vcupats says: May 30, 2013 9:06 PM

Good luck in Denver. They are definitely putting a good team together right now.

  40. kenstabler says: May 30, 2013 9:50 PM

As Peyton goes, so do the Broncos. He is no spring chicken anymore and he is just a blind side hit away from his career being over. Jammer is putting his bet on an old horse to lead another old horse across the finish line. I wonder if Geritol is listed as a P.E.D.

stop using spygate as an excuse.that was in the superbowl when thye spied on the rams practice prior to the superbowl… after spygate peyton still couldnt beat the patriots outdoors..he was fortunate to get an indoor game when the chargers choked against new england and he got the pats at home in the rca dome..his lone year to get by them and get to the superbowl as #3 seed.. in the afc

  43. rohlo says: May 30, 2013 10:07 PM

A lot of places you WONT win a Super Bowl are easy to figure out: Jacksonville, Cleveland, Green Bay, Carolina, Miami, Jets, Kansas City, Oakland.

Kinda hard to say where the BEST places would be, but Denver amd San Fran have to top the list. Seattle, Atlanta and New England will be tough again too.

As a chiefs fan watching him twice a year I think he is a solid player but nothing crazy.. I usually hate watching Denver getting good young guys like von miller but the one guy i’m disappointed I didn’t get to see develop at corner was darrent Williams. thought he would be one of the best in the league. He would have been a beast if his life wasn’t taken by some punk

  53. ppdoc13 says: May 30, 2013 11:25 PM

Someone ought to yell jammer Baltimore is a better place to win a Super Bowl. Our QB picks his game up in the playoffs while Peyton’s collar gets a size or two smaller in the playoffs. Just look at his stats on his Super Bowl run year and compare them to joes. Meanwhile we played SF which was top 5 defense in the league

  54. soundsofsuccess7 says: May 30, 2013 11:26 PM

In the age of freeagency and parity, the preaseason favorites rarely win the Superbowl. Ask the Texans, Bengals, Eagles, Cowboys, and every other team that’s label the next one in line for a Superbowl.

Simply put, in the NFL, it could be anybody turn.

Uhhhh, I’m a big Bronco fan, but I’m not so sure about Osweiler.

But this year the Broncos are gonna ride! They will use last years Ravens Hail Mary loss to motivate them to the SB, just like the team did in 97 when they went all the way after a heartbreaking home loss to Jacksonville in 96. That taste will stay with them and they will be highly motivated! I give the Ravens all the credit in the world for going all the way, but let’s face it, they did get a little lucky with that 70 yard bomb to tie it up.
