Falling oak tree mars 49ers coaches outing

In a development that the 49ers surely hope isn’t a harbinger of things to come in 2013 and beyond, a huge oak tree spontaneously broke apart and fell during an outing for the team’s coaches and their wives.

According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, two people not part of the 49ers contingency suffered injuries when the 150-year-old tree collapsed.  One man was injured in the parking lot at the San Jose Lawn Bowls Club.  A woman suffered a compound leg fracture.

49ers running backs coach Tom Rathman explained that he heard a loud crack, and that he and his wife starting running.  The tree landed in the spot where everyone had been standing.

“Very easily someone could have died,” Rathman said.

The group of roughly 20 consisted of 49ers assistant coaches and their wives.  Head coach Jim Harbaugh was not there.

You just know that somehow Pete Carroll was behind this.

You wish it was as you type that post from your phone or computer…a device driven from the innovation from a California company.

That is awful to even suggest that Pete Carroll was responsible for this.

    It’s obviously a Belichick move. ;)

Brandon Jacobs was seen running away from the scene with a chainsaw……

That wouldn’t have happened if Tebow were on their roster.

First Crabtree tears his Achille’s, then they hire “Mangina,” and now this? The Niners are doomed.

This is proof that the niners season is going to fall apart for sure! People don’t think that nature is intelligent, ask native americans! This is a sign from the spirit world!

Wow even God hates the 49ers

Which Patriot’s cameraman was hiding in the tree?

  13. canetic says: Jun 2, 2013 3:35 PM

Dead oak tree? Harvey Updyke couldn’t be happier.

  14. niner13 says: Jun 2, 2013 3:45 PM

fallen oak? sounds like a winery.

Belichick was trying to take out Mangini.

  16. southpaw79 says: Jun 2, 2013 3:50 PM

From reports, its sounds like Patrick Willis accidentally brushed up against the tree.

As a purely philosophical exercise………………………….. if Jim Harbaugh was squashed by a falling tree at a lawn bowling club, would there be anyone around who was disappointed?

  19. sonoco says: Jun 2, 2013 4:13 PM

The poor old tree just decided it could die happy after being the presence of the accumulated coaching greatness that is the 49ers staff. Over the top?

  20. ndnut says: Jun 2, 2013 4:40 PM

No worse than the Steelers garbage posts seen everyday on random articles. Looks like he’s coming now to tell me about how great his team was many moons ago.

I think it was a false flag operation with the intent to get Obama to ban Oak Trees.

  22. ducksmith says: Jun 2, 2013 5:11 PM

Sure it was an oak tree? Not a Crabtree?

  23. thefox61 says: Jun 2, 2013 5:11 PM

Oh great! What are the Seahawks gonna do to top this?

  24. hawkforlife says: Jun 2, 2013 5:12 PM

Harbaugh was not there? Funny coaches outing when the head man can’t show.

  25. denverdude7 says: Jun 2, 2013 5:17 PM

Still doubting the power of that “Factory of Sadness” thing?

Within 48 hours of the 49ers hiring ex-Browns coach Eric Mangini a 150 year old oak tree suddenly crumbles to the ground nearly taking out the entire coaching staff.

Doubt it all you’d like Niner fans. Your team is doomed.

  26. istateyourname says: Jun 2, 2013 5:23 PM

So Harbaugh has the only coaching tree that can actually kill you…

  27. jibberator says: Jun 2, 2013 5:36 PM

Thats what happens when you make it illegal to remove oak trees, even the obviously dangerous ones.

  28. j0esixpack says: Jun 2, 2013 6:38 PM

    Not a good sign.

Next thing you know they’ll hire Eric Mangini

With the exception of the part about the woman getting a compound fracture, which is absolutely horrible, this entire page is hilarious! Keep it up! (and best wishes to the unnamed woman!)

Did Jim’s brother’s planting seeds of defeat from their last Super Bowl appearance had anything to do with this situation?

  31. sampsonswag01 says: Jun 2, 2013 7:53 PM

Who says it’s lonely at the top when there’s all this hate to keep the #49ers company?!!!

    Keep wishing chumps!

  32. sixjak says: Jun 2, 2013 7:58 PM

Glad no one connected to the 49er coaching staff was hurt. Hope the two that were injured make full recoveries. To all the haters pointing to this as a sign of things to come you seem to be ignoring the bigger picture. The 9er coaching staff came away unharmed and victorious.

  33. cali49er707 says: Jun 2, 2013 7:59 PM

Wow falling trees are sign of the soon to be demise of the 9ERS. Unbelievable!!

Keep reaching TROLLS your desperation couldn’t be on display anymore.

  34. goldrush94 says: Jun 3, 2013 2:54 AM

That’s got Pete Carroll written all over it.
