The Cowboys added some depth and versatility at tight end, signing journeyman Dante Rosario Monday, the team announced.

Rosario, who has been with the Panthers, Dolphins, Broncos and Chargers, has some value as a receiver, an H-back and a special teamer. He has 99 catches in seven seasons, the best a last-second, game-winning touchdown for the Panthers at San Diego in 2008.

To make room for him on the roster, the Cowboys waived rookie tight end Paul Freedman.

The Cowboys have talked about using more two-tight end sets, and while that will be Jason Witten and Gavin Escobar, Rosario is a versatile player who might help.
