Sedrick Ellis has more trips lined up

AP

Former Saints defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis is quickly putting together a summer tour.

After visiting the Patriots last week, Ellis has trips lined up with the Lions and Bears this week, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

While Ellis hasn’t lived up to his draft status, the former seventh-overall pick has been a solid player in his career.

And at this stage in the offseason, convincing solid players to come on board at cut-rate prices can be good business.

  1. come to philly phat daddy,

we could use a line collapser next to Fletcher Cox in our nickel defense.

(why do teams waste top picks on DTs under 6’3)

  2. Would like him out in Arizona if the price was decent. He would be a good guy to give Williams a breather or if he went down for a while. They have plenty of cap space to do it. Always need depth on the line.

  3. Ellis can be a dominant player when he wants to be, but he hasn’t played that way since about halfway through the 2010 season. I’d give him 2 years, $4 million and make him work for his spot in the lineup. Could really be a good pickup if the right team and position coach gets ahold of him.

  4. ” a solid player in his career.” Have you been watching his career???? He was a doormat for offensive linemen. For what the Saints are about to do with their defense, he should be exactly what they’re looking for & they don’t want him. Only trips he should be lining up are to the NFL unemployment line…. or to his attorney so he can join the concussion lawsuit for one last paycheck.

  5. What happened to him and Glenn Dorsey? These guys were 1A and 1B when they came out the draft. These guys have been serious disappointments.
