Jason Babin has groin surgery, expected back for Jaguars’ camp

Jaguars defensive end Jason Babin had groin surgery but is expected to recover in time to participate in training camp.

Jacksonville coach Gus Bradley confirmed today that Babin had the procedure.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Babin ended up in Jacksonville last season after the Eagles placed him on waivers. He stepped into the Jaguars’ first-string defense immediately, starting the final five games of the season for Jacksonville after starting the first 11 for Philadelphia.

The 33-year-old Babin has 55 career sacks, including 5.5 for the Eagles and 1.5 for the Jaguars last year.

Im sure this guy can’t even tackle a WR, let alone a RB

This guy was downright pathetic while playing for the Eagles. He only had one job and that was to get to the QB, but apparently that was asking too much of a well-paid former probowler. What a bum.

These guys all wait so long for their surgery, just so they won’t have to participate in the camps. Pretty lame!

This guy is a one-trick pony. Only effective in a ‘wide-9’ defensive alignment. No big loss for the Jags even if he doesn’t make the regular season — he’s overpaid anyways. I actually feel bad for the fans having to put up with that guy.

So he finally had his head surgically removed from his ass. That’s good, maybe he will notice RBs running past him now.

He played the 9-tech with the Eagles, & his only assignment was to get to the Quarterback (hence 18 sacks in 2011).. Now that he’s the lead guy for the LEO position (another 9-tech) under coach Bradley’s scheme, he fits the profile. I’d rather have him rush the QB & have success than to play your prototypical 4-3 end.

Everyone knows that Babin is a one trick pony, but in all fairness to him, he did have 18 sacks in 2011 with the Eagles, so no one was complaining. When his production dropped in 2012 (along with the rest of the team) he was made a scapegoat. Such is life in the big leagues.

Does this mean Babs won’t be running with the bulls before camp starts?
