The mother and father of Broncos running backs coach Eric Studesville were killed in an accident on Tuesday.

The Broncos confirmed on Wednesday that Al and Jan Studesville had died.

Our most heartfelt condolences go to Eric Studesville and his entire family following the tragic loss of his parents, Al and Jan Studesville,” the team said in a statement. “We were devastated to learn of their passing today. Our thoughts and prayers are with Eric and his family, and our organization will support them however possible during this difficult time.”

Although the Broncos did not confirm the cause of death, Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Studesville’s parents were riding a motorcycle on a Texas highway when a tow truck veered into their lane and hit them head on.

The 46-year-old Studesville has been an NFL assistant for 17 years. He also served as the Broncos’ interim head coach for the last four weeks of the 2010 season.
