Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III isn’t ready to say he can do everything he needs to do, five months after reconstructive knee surgery. But he said at the conclusion of minicamp today that he feels very good about what he can do.
Asked if it’s realistic to think he’ll be under center on the first day of training camp, Griffin answered, “Without a doubt.”
“I feel a lot more comfortable,” Griffin said. “I felt good today, that’s what I’m excited about after four straight days.”
Griffin said he feels no soreness in his knee, doesn’t limp when he runs and feels good about his ability to throw on the run.
“I’ve started throwing on the run a lot more,” Griffin said. “Every day you want to feel better and that’s how it’s been.”
Although Griffin still has plenty more he needs to do -- he can’t plant and cut the way he’ll need to in a game -- there’s every reason to believe he’ll be the Week One starter. And maybe even the leader of the first-string offense on the first day of training camp.
