Neither Nicks nor Cruz show for physicals Monday

There will be other minicamps tomorrow, and there will be other stories.

Some of which have been beaten nearly as close to death.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Giants wide receivers Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz were no-shows for team physicals Monday in advance of Tuesday’s mandatory minicamp.

As a practical matter, it might not matter.

Cruz hasn’t signed a contract, and until he does, he can’t be fined for being absent. Nicks can be fined, up to $66,150 if he skips all three days.

But Nicks could also roll in first thing in the morning and take a physical if need be.

That might be the plan, as quarterback Eli Manning said he had exchanged texts with Nicks, and expects to see him Tuesday (via Tom Rock of Newsday).

We’ll find out tomorrow, when the Giants take the field.

Unless of course the rest of the noise deafens us.
