The Vikings will be winding up their offseason program without one of their starting linebackers.

Chad Greenway will have arthroscopic knee surgery on Wednesday after having an MRI to check out the reason for knee problems that have bothered him this spring. Coach Leslie Frazier said that Greenway will miss the rest of OTAs and next week’s minicamp, but is having the surgery now in order to be ready to go when the team starts camp in July.

“He had a little tension in his knee,” Frazier said, via Scout.com. “We just wanted to get it down now rather than run into a situation where we get into camp and it continues to bother him and then we’d have some issues that we’d have to deal with there. We’re going to have that done.”

Greenway has played in 96 straight games since making his regular season debut in 2007, starting all but one of them, and is coming off his second straight Pro Bowl. Assuming no setbacks, he should be fine in plenty of time to start the drive for a third straight trip to the game in the first week of the 2013 season.
