Eagles’ Jason Peters arrested for drag racing, fleeing police

Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters was arrested today after leading police on a chase at speeds exceeding 100 miles an hour.

Peters was arrested in Monroe, Louisiana, and booked on charges of drag racing and resisting by flight, according to USA Today.

The arresting officer wrote in his report that he observed two cars stopped next to each other at a red light take off at a high rate of speed when the light turned green, as if they were drag racing. The officer went to pull over both cars, and while one driver stopped immediately, the other driver (Peters) fled. The officer says Peters went more than 100 miles an hour during the chase, although he did eventually stop.

This is the second time Peters has been in our police blotter; he was arrested for disturbing the peace in 2011.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Peters missed the entire 2012 season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon.
