49ers, Rams Mt. Rushmore voting closes today

We’re back to two-a-days on NBCSN tonight, with the unveiling of the 49ers and Rams Mt. Rushmores.

For both, the voting has paled in comparison to the numbers generated by the NFC North teams.  Which I’ve mentioned specifically to shame the 49ers and Rams fans into stepping it up.

For the 49ers, the quartet is essentially settled.  For the Rams, a more recent quarterback who pulled off some high-end magic is trying to hold off a quarterback-sacker from yesteryear named after a fictional magician for the final spot.

Cast your ballots below, and turn your dials to NBCSN at 5:00 p.m. ET (4:00 p.m. in St. Louis and 1:00 p.m. in San Fran and L.A.) for the official lists.

  1. I never thought I’d hear myself say this about the Rams franchise, but I think you’re going to need more than four spots for them.

You just can’t leave off any of the following: Jack Youngblood, Merlin Olson, Deacon Jones, Marshall Faulk, Elroy Hirsch, Norm Van Brocklin, Jackie Slater.

  2. Wow…this one is as tough as I’ve seen

So Dickerson and Faulk, both legitimate top 10 backs of all time…you can make arguments to elevate either in the rankings….Olsen and Jones are also HOFers that can be argued as top 10 at their positions…Warner did something no other Rams QB could do, which is win the SB…he also had MVP’s….Slater was the longest tenured Ram every, a mainstay…

Dickerson (broke the single season record in st.louis)

    Merlin Olsen

    Deacon Jones

    Kurt Warner

  3. You can’t leave off Faulk. Set single season record for yards from scrimmage and one of only two back with 1000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season. Dickerson still has rushing record. Deacon Jones was the secretary of defense and invented the term sack. But to me the Rams will always be the greastest show on turf. And those glory years were lead by Warner. Without him Holt & Bruce wouldn’t be on this list.

  4. Gee, you would think at least Steven Jackson would get at least a tad bit of consideration?

  5. My issue is that Dickerson only spent 4 and a bit seasons before contract demands led to him being traded. 4 great years but not enough to be on Mount Rushmore, especially when you look at the other Hall of Famers available.

  6. For the 49ers very hard to pick only 4 but here we go.
    1. Walsh (nothing is possiable without him) 2. Joe Montana (again no dynasty without the GOAT) 3. Jerry Rice (probably the greatest Football player of all time) 4. I really struggled lots of players derserving Eddie Debartlo Jr(he was the man who believed in Walsh so without him. His risk taking the niners are subpar franchise instead of top of league)

  7. Now On to a comment I can’t believe Ram fans are so willing to leave Kurt Warner off there list. Faulk was great Olson ect. However no Kurt and you don’t win super bowl. And I believe you coulda traded out Faulk for a couple of other running backs during that period and still won super bowl. It was Kurt and his passing and out right refusal to lose.
