Current, future 49ers will have a hard time crashing their Mt. Rushmore

For more than a few teams, it’s been difficult to carve out a four-man Mt. Rushmore. For the 49ers, it doesn’t get much easier.

The four choices were so clear and obvious that it’ll take a lot for any current or future 49ers player, coach, owner, or executive to take a spot.

Pro Football Talk and PFT Planet agree. The winners as announced Thursday on NBCSN are Walsh, Montana, Rice, and Lott. (Does anyone really need their first names?)

Montana appeared on 100 percent of the ballots. Rice somehow showed up on only 96 percent. (Four percent of you are nuts.) Walsh was on 80 percent of the ballots, and Lott showed up on 52 percent.

The vote was so lopsided that seven of the finalists finished with less than 10 percent of the vote, and six were south of five percent.

The presentation of the four winners came with one caveat. Former NFL linebacker Pete Najarian made a strong case for Leo Nomellini to replace Lott. Nomellini, however, didn’t resonate with the voters, getting a Blutarski-esque zero percent of the vote.
