For the Cowboys to be the kind of offense they want to be this season, DeMarco Murray’s going to have to be effective.

Which would begin with being healthy.

But Murray said he feels like he’s ready to go, even though he missed much of the offseason with a hamstring problem.

I definitely feel like I’m back to where I need to be,” Murray said, via Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com.

As minicamp progressed, Murray did more and more work, which is what he’ll need to get ready for this year.

“I just need to continue to play hard,” he said. “I may not do all the work right and may get sloppy here and there, but I need to continue to make plays. Play hard and play free. I can’t go out there thinking too much.”

He’s missed nine games in his first two seasons with injuries. When he’s well, he’s been effective (career 4.8 yards per carry). And if he can stay that way this year, it should make Bill Callahan (or whomever ends up calling plays this week) look much smarter.
