Maybe they heard the Patriots were about to cut some players, and they’re just making room.

The Jaguars announced that they had released defensive end Austen Lane and cornerback Trey Wilson Thursday.

Lane, a former fifth-round pick, started 17 games in three seasons with the Jags, registering three sacks.

He was going to struggle to make the roster this year with a scheme change, which included Tyson Alualu taking snaps at defensive end.
