Antonio Cromartie will have a house full of teammates

Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie has reached the point of his career when he’s the veteran mentor, and so he’s going to get together with some teammates over the next month to show them the right way to stay in shape for the time off between the end of minicamp and the start of training camp.

Cromartie told Conor Orr of the Star-Ledger that a group of teammates including cornerback Kyle Wilson, cornerback Aaron Berry, safety Josh Bush and receiver Stephen Hill will stay at a house he’s renting in California and work out each day with his personal trainer. Cromartie said the California locale isn’t the draw; what’s important is that younger players can benefit from the kinds of offseason workouts that keep Cromartie in top shape.

It ain’t Cro West. It’s just the Cro Workout Regimen,” Cromartie said.

Jets coach Rex Ryan has preached the importance of team unity, and Cromartie said he likes that aspect of the workouts as well.

“By us working out together and understanding each other, we get a better feel for each other, too,” Cromartie said. “Not just here, but outside of this building. That’s something we’re trying to build on.”

With Darrelle Revis gone, Cromartie sounds like he’s taking seriously the responsibilities of being the unquestioned leader of the Jets’ secondary.

Cromartie a mentor? Oh jeez… Guess there will be some babies born March.

  2. hockeykrishna says: Jun 14, 2013 5:10 PM

Where will all the rookies sleep? What with all those wives/girlfriends/baby mamas and the 8 kids from those Baby Mamas. If Cro is your clubhouse “veteran presence”, you have issues. Maybe we can just call him, “Ringmaster Cro”….

  3. pillowporkers says: Jun 14, 2013 5:11 PM

Some actually positive news for the Jets. Haven’t seen much of this the past couple years. Where do all of Cromarties kids stay?

  4. scmems07 says: Jun 14, 2013 5:11 PM

oh cool, he is getting his kids on the weekend now…..oh, his teammates. is there enough room for all of them?

  5. fanofevilempire says: Jun 14, 2013 5:12 PM

    Nice move.

  6. explosionsauce says: Jun 14, 2013 5:13 PM

He probably has enough beds to accommodate his guests, he just won’t know the names of the children he’s taking the beds from.

  7. justintuckrule says: Jun 14, 2013 5:13 PM

Are the Jets intending to sign his kids too?

  8. pastabelly101 says: Jun 14, 2013 5:15 PM

Where are his nine kids and 8 girlfriends staying?

  9. 12thmanseattle says: Jun 14, 2013 5:22 PM

  10. crp63 says: Jun 14, 2013 5:25 PM

The real question is will he remember all their names?

  11. fdugrad says: Jun 14, 2013 5:31 PM

I wonder if Cro can name all his house guests?!

  12. thegreatgabbert says: Jun 14, 2013 5:35 PM

Cro can’t remember all of his kids names so he just calls them “teammate”. Has a house full of them.

  13. gdeli says: Jun 14, 2013 5:38 PM

our house, in the middle of the street, our house..ha

  14. thesteelers says: Jun 14, 2013 5:40 PM

I don’t particular like Cromartie and I think the Jets are a joke, but I think this is awesome.

  15. charliedamon says: Jun 14, 2013 5:40 PM

Is that code for ‘all his kids are moving in’?

Beats spending time with the kids on father’s day. Doesn’t it Cro?

  18. ryann252013 says: Jun 14, 2013 5:53 PM

Those guys are hard ass workers then, Cromartie’s offseason training looked brutal

  19. ryann252013 says: Jun 14, 2013 5:59 PM

And is the title of this article a jab at cromartie’s kids?! LOL

  20. kuranda84 says: Jun 14, 2013 6:04 PM

Good for him. Jets need someone to step up like that.

  21. schmitty2 says: Jun 14, 2013 6:11 PM

He can mentor them in protecting against the pass and they can mentor him in protecting against pregnency.

  22. lovetron says: Jun 14, 2013 6:26 PM

Cool. Don’t forget to spend some time with those ten kids though.

  23. pisano says: Jun 14, 2013 6:29 PM

Not a problem, he has a house full of kids too. Antonio (baby Machine) Cromartie.

  24. buddybowl69 says: Jun 14, 2013 6:43 PM

He needs as many babysitters as he can get.

  25. rcali says: Jun 14, 2013 6:53 PM

Too bad Mevis is gone because he wouldn’t have to fake an injury at this camp.

  26. jiggy3198 says: Jun 14, 2013 6:59 PM

He now has a house full of babysitters. He’s not dumb. “Hey Hill I’m gonna go get some milk, why don’t you keep an eye on those eight kids over there while I’m gone. Thanks”.

  27. atwatercrushesokoye says: Jun 14, 2013 7:04 PM

His teammates are about to find out that the “Cro workout regiment” consists of impregnating women, and bench press, that’s it.

  28. stoolerz says: Jun 14, 2013 7:15 PM

Hope he teaches them to wear a condom

  29. raymondbrownsdfn says: Jun 14, 2013 7:19 PM

The kid jokes played out two years ago. Get some new material.

  30. kd75 says: Jun 14, 2013 7:25 PM

When did Antonio Cromartie become stable and responsible?

  31. fatsack1 says: Jun 14, 2013 7:26 PM

keep cracking jokes…but that dude is actually doing something positive for his team…..and has paid more taxes than all of you combined

  32. noring4youstill says: Jun 14, 2013 7:34 PM

So they’ll be sharing beds with that NFL roster of children?

  33. johnelwayishorsefaced says: Jun 14, 2013 8:31 PM

Aaron Berry will pull a gun on one of them.
Only the Jets would give a d bag like this another chance after all the shenanigans he’s pulled.

  34. gvboot says: Jun 14, 2013 8:43 PM

Great move, someone in that bunch will watch the kiddos for the night, party time!!

  35. katopete16 says: Jun 14, 2013 8:50 PM

Wow! Look at all the lame kid jokes….. Honestly, who cares about his kids and how many he has. It’s not any of your problems so watch your own bobber, you’ll catch more fish!!!

  36. vader7176 says: Jun 14, 2013 9:10 PM

Reminiscent of a house Michael Irvin had in Dallas in the 90’s. No?

  37. rraider says: Jun 14, 2013 9:35 PM

Is there a reason that the Jets (Sanchez/Cromatrie) cant conduct a weeklong workout camp in……New York? Someone in Cali is getting arrested(Aaron Berry)…or some women are getting impregenated………

  38. greenmeattruck says: Jun 15, 2013 12:43 AM

If they’re hanging out with this deadbeat fool, make ’em all take a DNA test. They’ll probably “spread their seed” in a good 10-20 mile radius of this house.

  39. granadafan says: Jun 15, 2013 1:07 AM

Fathers Day this weekend should be interesting for Cro.

  40. hawkstradamus says: Jun 15, 2013 1:11 AM

I read the headline and thought four or five of his spawn had reached maturity and were now on the jets

  41. laserrocketarm12 says: Jun 15, 2013 2:16 AM

    So. Many. Kids. Jokes.

Get over it and fine new material, losers. You’re not funny.

  42. bigoldred says: Jun 15, 2013 5:32 AM

Remember those little vending machines on the Men’s room wall in bars? You could buy either breath mints or condoms. They should have one of these at “Cro-West”.

  43. unfortunatelyabillsfan says: Jun 15, 2013 9:19 AM

They can help take care of his 14 kids now! Sneaky trick instead of hiring a babysitter!

  44. njraiderfan19 says: Jun 15, 2013 9:22 AM

Give the guy credit- first his financial turnaround, now taking young teammates under his wing. Maybe he finally understands his own cautionary tale and he now ‘gets it’ as a teammate and a person.

  45. joewilliesshnoz says: Jun 15, 2013 9:41 AM

Sounds more like a crack house.

  46. CKL says: Jun 15, 2013 12:45 PM

    Cro-West, young men!
(less lame than Cro kids jokes, admit it!)
