Chiefs claim Austen Lane, release Daniel Muir

Austen Lane AP

The Chiefs shuffled a few names on defense Friday, adding an outside rusher in place of an interior player.

The team announced they claimed defensive end Austen Lane off waivers from the Jaguars, and released defensive tackle Daniel Muir.

Muir has been a serviceable player in the past with the Packers, Colts and Jets, but was buried on the depth chart at nose tackle.

Lane will likely get a get a chance to rush as an outside linebacker in the Chiefs’ 3-4 defense.

Austen Lane goes from the frying pan into the frying pan right next to it in the standings.

Someone on the Jaguars message board said that the over/under on Austen Lane’s Annual Sack was game 9.

If he can avoid injury, he can be a serviceable player. A lot of us have met him out and about Jacksonville and he’s a good guy. Wish him the best.

The sign of a good personnel department is churning the bottom of the roster to try to improve. This is a good sign that this Chiefs regime might actually have a clue what they’re doing

Never really produced as the jags hoped, but a great guy to meet and awesome twitter guy. Hope he makes it happen with the chiefs.

I liked him in Jville even though he didn’t produce much. He could be a really serviceable addition in the Chiefs 3-4. Can’t wait to see KCs D in 2013!

    And still no QB.

I’m a die hard chiefs fan.

    I love our roster.

Reid/Dorsey is a great combo as long as the roles stay separate.

However, for those using the words “dominate” & “dynasty” how about we win a few games 1st?

Don’t make those of us who love the team & try to talk logically look bad.

    “And still no QB.”

Says the fan of another team…with no QB.
