Gronkowski’s back surgery will happen Tuesday

16-board-games-make-feel--large-msg-131612806006

It’s unclear when Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will be able to play.  But it is clear when he’ll have his next surgical procedure.

Via multiple reports, which PFT has confirmed, Gronkowski will undergo back surgery on Tuesday.  Dr. Robert Watkins (who recently performed back surgery on Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul) will conduct the operation.

For Gronk, he’s had enough procedures in recent months to qualify for Cavity Sam status.  His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, previously told WQAM radio in Miami that the back surgery is minor, and that the recovery process won’t extend the timetable already created by his most recent forearm procedure.

For Patriots fans, the question isn’t simply when Gronkowski will be able to play.  It’s whether he’ll remain healthy, and for how long, once he’s back on the field.

He’s got problems all the time. Now it’s his back.
3 arm surgeries is a lot. If they can’t get rid of the infection they have a real problem there.

And still in better shape than the Steelers, haha!

Guy could turn in to a what if story if he keeps piling up injuries.

    @dangernearing

Which Steelers starter is going to miss at least half the season like Gronk, haha!

Gronk… impeccable timing. Sign your contract, you’re set for life. Sucks for Pats, awesome for gronk.

Maybe if he stopped trying to live like Paris Hilton he’d be staying a tad healthier.

Not saying Gronk’s career is over, but if he was a horse they would have put him down by now.

  15. RUAHORNH8R says: Jun 15, 2013 12:28 AM

Seriously? This is the best tight end in football, he has played hard and through injury, I had a staff infection that almost killed me! Hopefully they got it done, could lose an Arm’ scary stuff!
This guy is unstoppable when. Healthy!
    To a good return! Brother!!

Worried about this kid…regardless of team I hate when a guy’s career is in question due to injuries

Why wait until camp is starting why not get that stuff taken care immediately after you know you need it. Just absolutely blows me away

I love Gronk, but I think he’s going to be a what-if guy. He really had the potential to be the best TE of all-time. Really a shame if he’s kind of done, which I think he probably is.

@michaeljacksonisback Getting one good year, one insane year, and one pretty good year out of a second round pick isn’t a “bust,” bud. Even if Gronk is 70% from now until he retires it isn’t a “bust.” You don’t know the meaning of bust if you think that.

And Gronkowski’s Cabo cabana crawl will happen Thursday.

And Gronkowski’s beach volleyball-related injury will happen some time next week.

The Pats couldn’t actually still be counting on this knucklehead, could they?

Party on, Gronk! Don’t listen to all the small and bitter people. Your young and invulnerable! Now send over the honeys like you promised.

  22. db105 says: Jun 15, 2013 7:21 AM

Hey Gronk, let’s try some more wresting moves in front of cameras so more people can question your intelligence.

Speaking as someone who’s had two back surgeries, it’s quite possible the surgery is, in fact, minor. If he is simply having part of a disc removed, the first surgery usually involves a shorter recovery time. Given that he is also an amazing athlete, he should have no problems. If he needs another one that may be another story

  24. jetsjetsjetsnow says: Jun 15, 2013 8:28 AM

I wonder if he’ll go out partying in the evening after his surgery & pose for a picture wearing a tank top.

  25. billsfan1 says: Jun 15, 2013 8:37 AM

The problem is that he is a meat head… and a douche but that runs in the family…
The guys only function on this planet is to catch a football, he contributes absolutely nothing to society otherwise….

  26. patfanken says: Jun 15, 2013 9:08 AM

I wonder why no one is asking WHY the Pats waited another month after announcing the back surgery to actually do it? Could it be, because the procedure is benign enough that he will miss little or none of TC. I have a feeling Gronk will be back much sooner than the mediots expect.

……and as for the Bills fan who thinks Gronk is a waste of human flesh, he should be made aware that Gronk does more charitable work in one off season than most of his entire team does around that puss hole of city he roots for

Bills fans, by definition shouldn’t throw stones at other fans. They make too easy targets….even for Jet fans. lol

I gotta be honest, Gronk is starting to remind me of Bob Sanders; game changing talent when he’s healthy…but he’s rarely healthy. Before last season began I remember saying to a friend that Gronk was made of porcelain. That was BEFORE this past season and all the injuries. Love the guy as a talent, love his personality, hate his brittle bones/body

  28. krapfish says: Jun 15, 2013 11:49 AM

He’s like the Bob Sanders of offense.

    Great comparison.

Unbelievably valuable when they play but that’s a big big ‘WHEN’.
