Work at Levi’s Stadium resumes two days after death

Work resumed on the 49ers’ new stadium in Santa Clara Thursday, two days after a construction worker died there.

According to Mark Gomez of the San Jose Mercury News, workers gathered in the south end zone for a service to remember 63-year-old Donald White, who died on Tuesday when an elevator counterweight fell on him.

Workers passed buckets to take up donations for White’s family, and stickers with his initials in red and gold were distributed to place on their hard hats.

“The hearts are heavy,” stadium project co-director Jonathan Harvey said. “It’s been a difficult time. Everybody has the family in mind. But I think getting some normalcy back to the construction workers and their lives is important.”

The 49ers will plant a tree in a plaza outside the stadium in White’s memory.
