After missing on Bradshaw, Pats sign a runner

The Patriots were among the teams sniffing around running back Ahmad Bradshaw, before he signed with the Colts last week.

Sights thus lowered, they added undrafted rookie running back George Winn Monday, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.

Winn had been in camp with the Texans, but was released after a rookie minicamp.

A one-year starter at Cincinnati, he was recruited by now-Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly — one of Bill Belichick’s friends in the business who was on hand for the Patriots minicamp last week.

They missed on Bradshaw? Talk about misleading your readers. You have no idea if they had ever planned to make an offer but why ruin a good headline with reality?

What does Bradshaw and Kraft have in common? They both have 2 rings.

Luckily the Pats had film of the Texans minicamp, so they could see what they were getting.

Like just about every Cincinnati draft eligible player this year Winn had medical concerns. But if I just judged him by gametape he still lacked NFL skills. He barely got into my top 400. He’ll need to add some speed somehow and bring more then his A game to make a roster.

Just what they need. Another average running back to put in the stable.
