In an effort to improve a passing game led by the first pick in the 2010 draft, the Rams have been loading up the depth chart at receiver every season since then. This year, a first-round pick and a third-rounder were devoted to the position. Last year, receivers arrived via rounds two and four. In 2011, it was round three and round four.
Regardless of where they currently reside in the pecking order, a cluster of five receivers taken in the last three drafts at round four or higher should set the stage for some stiff competition in training camp.
It also sets up an intriguing game of musical chairs for the sixth roster spot at receiver — if the Rams opt to carry six into the regular season.
