Report: Hernandez recently was sued for allegedly shooting someone in the face

June is a slow month for football.  It hasn’t been a slow month for a certain football player’s lawyers.

According to TMZ, Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was sued last week in a Florida federal court for allegedly shooting someone in the face.

The lawsuit, filed by Alexander S. Bradley, claims that Hernandez shot Bradley on February 13, 2013 while the two men were riding in a car.  Bradley allegedly lost his right eye as a result of the incident, along with other injuries.

Per TMZ, the case was dismissed only four days after it was filed.  Since it’s highly unlikely that any action was taken on the case that quickly, there’s a chance the case was settled.

Hernandez would have been much smarter to settle the case before it was filed.  Between the lawsuit and the investigation in Massachusetts, Hernandez is now more likely to attract the attention of the league office, which is more apt to apply the enforce the personal-conduct policy when a player is involved in multiple off-field incidents.

WHO is this guy (Hernandez) ?!? If you’re a Patriots fan, it must be like marrying someone who you discover a few years later is living a double life.

  9. tennesseeoilers says: Jun 19, 2013 2:04 PM

They really DO need Tim Tebow. (And I don’t mean on the football field.)

  12. mancave001 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:05 PM

Wow this just keeps getting better. I’ve never even heard of someone suing for getting shot in the face. WTH?

  13. Kaz says: Jun 19, 2013 2:05 PM

If he was a Bengal no way he could have shot someone in the face and been sued and nobody know about it. Funny how some players get into trouble and the media doesn’t even pick it up.

  14. fnc111 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:06 PM

Finally, the Patriots are done. If Brady has just a little less time to throw they go 5-11 lololol.

  17. rsjem1979 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:07 PM

Well, considering the fact that Hernandez dropped in the draft due to off-field issues, I’d say it’s more like marrying someone you know is a mess and hoping you can change them.

  20. ebr362 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:08 PM

Stay classy Patriots! When you think about all the questionable character free agents and draft picks this team has signed along with the cheating scandal it makes me shake my head when you hear this organization called classy. No wonder they have a zero media tolerance, time to look under the rug imho.

  21. blacknole08 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:08 PM

So why wasn’t Hernandez charged with anything then? Those are some serious accusations.

Or could this just be another money-grab attempt by someone looking to cash in on Hernandez’s current situation?

  22. remok9 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:09 PM

  24. eshine76 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:09 PM

So he may have shot someone in the face several months ago and this story is only coming out because he may be involved in a murder? His lawyer and PR rep are worth whatever he pays them.

  25. kolbydoerge says: Jun 19, 2013 2:09 PM

Cheaters! Shooting and paying off the heat. Jets north now!

  26. bigbenh8tr says: Jun 19, 2013 2:10 PM

Ok this is a really crappy situation but bring on the NE fans who want to give Florio crap for not saying anything until he had sources, and now he is just looking better and better for using caution and finding something like this.

Save your whining and moaning for Redskins fans once RG3 goes down……..again.

  30. godofwine330 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:10 PM

What a dummy. If he is involved in this…he is a dunce. LOL@ the Dick Cheyney comment from Jimbo. Associating with ne’redowells is bad newz anyway (see what I did there Vick), but continuing to associate with them once you are in the league is bonkers. The weight you feel on your coattails is them pulling you down. No good can come of it. Guns are for protection ONLY, and if you are not of strong enough mind to know when to use one and when not to then you should not have one.

Who knows how this will end up, but it isn’t looking too good for Hernandez so far. And this quick suit/settle coming out won’t help the situation.

  31. benning89 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:10 PM

    Aaron & Rolando McLame = BFF’s!

Pathetic that this is the type of guy that we will shoot without question, if he broke into our home, so please don’t defend him because he wears the jersey of your team.

  34. packmaneffsanfran says: Jun 19, 2013 2:14 PM

  35. pinion8ted says: Jun 19, 2013 2:16 PM

Wow. If there’s a grain of truth to this, this guy’s case just got a whole lot shakier.

The first one was an impulse shooting, which means he’s capable of more.

    Not good.

Did BB or Kraft know about the first incident?

  36. radioactivechimp says: Jun 19, 2013 2:16 PM

Why was he sued for shooting a man in the face and not immediately arrested? This should have resulted in jail-time and not just a financial settlement.

Drafting a bad apple like Herandez and then extending him. Drafting an injury plagued player like Gronkowski then signing him to an extension. Then there’s Talib. Then alienate Welker. Bring in Tebow. Haynesworth. Stinko. The Genius in action.

  48. uwsptke says: Jun 19, 2013 2:19 PM

He joins the JETS, they fall apart, before he played for the broncos they were falling apart with Kyle Orton and now the patriots are losing playmakers right and left. What goes on?

  56. gpclaw says: Jun 19, 2013 2:23 PM

The lawsuit was dropped because of a paperwork issue. It is expected to be filed again today.

Apparently, Hernandez likes to ride in cars with people while waiving a gun in their face.

  58. coryfor3 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:25 PM

Settlement? Is shooting someone in the face not illegal anymore?

  59. tharoostah says: Jun 19, 2013 2:25 PM

    1. Saying that he has not been ruled out as a suspect means nothing. They may not have gotten far enough to rule anyone out as a suspect. The same “law enforcement source” would likely tell you that Mike Florio hasn’t been ruled out as a suspect either. NO ONE HAS. They have to identify someone as a suspect, then investigate, then either rule them out or move on with gathering evidence against them.

    2. “Not cooperating” could mean he simply said lawyered up before answering any questions which is the smart thing for him to do even if he is not involved.

    3. Athletes get sued for random things all the time. All because he was sued for $100,000 then the case was dropped does not mean he was guilty or settled the case as Florio implies. That lawsuit sounds sketchy at best.

Everything you read or hear at this point is speculation. In situations like this it usually takes years to gather all the facts. Don’t believe everything you read.

Tomorrow morning it could come back that this was Aaron friend, Aaron rented a car for him, then the guy was murdered in a robbery gone wrong. Anything/Everything is possible at this point.

  60. jmble says: Jun 19, 2013 2:26 PM

Sounds like one of his boys (the dead guy) was the result of retaliation. This story is off the chain! Unbelievable….if Hernandez has something to do with the murder.

  74. war27 says: Jun 19, 2013 2:39 PM

We received this tip and document anonymously that Aaron Hernandez is allegedly involved in some sort of shooting dispute. We can’t go into further detail at this point. We placed a call to the lawyer in question and he refused to comment, and promptly hung up — On a side note, Aaron Hernandez is under contract through 2018 with the Patriots. Millions of dollars, nice cars, all the women he wants and he chooses to play around with guns? Something that can end a career, whether it be injuring yourself or someone else, both can put a damper on your financial situation.

I could think of millions of alternate ways to spend my free time that don’t involve guns or riding around with them. A few examples: spending time with a member of the opposite sex and go see a movie, go camping, build up a car from the ground up, anything legal.

I know these athletes aren’t always the shiniest apple on the tree, but c’mon really? Pay someone to make decisions for you if your too much of an idiot.

Read that story again on the link. Apparently they will refile the lawsuit today after fixing an error in paperwork. The guy was shot through the arm and it blew out his eye ball…nasty.

How in the hell does Aaron Hernandez literally shoot someone’s eye out in February and no one picks up the story? How is Rob Gronkowski’s love for Vegas partying more news worthy than Hernandez shooting a guy in the back of a car.

1)I’m sure it’s illegal to not report a gunshot wound, there’s no way the police weren’t involved in this if the guy went to the hospital.

2)If a guy shot out your eye would you sue him for $100,000 or would you have the cops arrest him, then sue him for millions? You’re blind in one eye forever (if you even have that one eye anymore) and you think $100,000 is fair?

3)I hope to God we don’t find out that the guy that wound up dead was a witness to the first shooting and Hernandez is a part time football player full time gangster. Either way, big suspension coming for Hernandez shooting a guy in the face.

This is why Belicheck didn’t rule out using Tebow elsewhere. Tebow is a gifted enough athlete and wants on the field so bad that he is going to be the tight end. Anyone not think the Hoodie Genius has known this was potentially coming for some time? He always has a plan and had one when they signed Tebow, insurance if this came out and if Gronk can’t quit being Gronk. Tebow might end up being better than both of them anyway.

If this guy was shot in the arm then lost his eye, the angle of the gun must have been held in a direction that would lead you to think that this guy was possibly being held captive while riding in the vehicle.

    Just speculation…

How the hell does a star NFL player shoot someone in the friggin’ face, and nobody hears about it until four months later?

    ————————————————-

    Gag order maybe?

I’m no lawyer, but that’s my guess. Then again, I would think suppressing an action like that would be a criminal action covering up another criminal action. Two wrongs don’t equal a right.

And you gotta wonder if Belichick and/or Bob Kraft knew about the incident when it first happened too.

So, grogansneck, was bill playing chess when he drafted hernandez in the first place with his history? Not to mention Gronk’s history. His chess-playing mind is so bright that Ballard was claimed a year before any of these flare ups came back like a bad case of herpes, right?

“The Patriot Way”… Hide it from the light of day and sweep it under the rug.

Funny how the league seems to look the other way when it’s the Patriots. Even when they had no option but to take action with video-gate, they destroyed the evidence.

  116. Patskrieg dot com says: Jun 19, 2013 3:37 PM

He “shot someone in the face” and settled it???

Does this make sense to even the most blockheaded Patriots hater? Shooting someone in the face is attempted murder. He would be in jail right now if anyone had the evidence to convict him of attempted murder.

  117. bullcharger says: Jun 19, 2013 3:43 PM

So only a civil suit was filed for shooting someone in the face???

Sounds like it was thrown out of court, not settled.

I think someone who was shot in the face might need to go to the hospital and the police would have gotten involved. I would think if the guy lost an eye and wanted to win a law suit he would want to press charges.

It doesn’t make sense there were no criminal charges.

If there was some kind of cover up there should still be a police record of the incident.

Crazy pathetic comments on here. Yeah, every other team has a bunch of saints. The whole Saints team committed bounties and then denied it. You can’t get much lower then that.

Half the Bengals team has been in prison over the years and management reacts with a shrug.

The Ravens had a potential double murderer on their team for years, the Giants had a guy who went to prison for shooting himself.

The classy Jets all took shots at Tim Tebow like schoolgirls.

The Titans had Travis Henry and PacMan Jones who know prison very well.

Every other team has these issues but people love to dump on the Pats because they’ve won. I guess people are just jealous and want to knock #1 off their perch. I don’t blame the Pats for this, they can’t be babysitters.

But how quickly people forget that every other team out there has skeletons in the closet.

Lewis didn’t help in a murder, nor did he dispose of any weapon. He disposed of the suit, leading to his charge (and conviction) of obstruction of justice.

Do people like you even stop to wonder how absurd it is to claim a guy is guilty because of a lack of evidence to prove his innocence or otherwise? I honestly think Ray Lewis is the first individual to be seen as guilty in the eyes of the general public because there’s no evidence to prove his innocence. Thank God that the law operates to the contrary.

Hernandez’s former pal Alexander Bradley filed a federal lawsuit against the grid star yesterday, claiming Hernandez blasted him in the face, the plaintiff’s lawyer said.

“They were friends — he was a personal assistant, he did a little of everything for him,” Bradley’s lawyer, David Jaroslawicz, told The Post. “They went down there for some R&R.”
Bradley, a 32-year-old Connecticut resident, says he had been partying with Hernandez, 23, at Tootsie’s strip club in Miami on Feb. 13 when they got into an argument.

In the car, Hernandez allegedly took out his unregistered gun and fired at Bradley, striking him in the right arm and eye. Bradley says he lost his right eye and has gone under the knife several times to fix his badly damaged face and arm.

“Hernandez was holding the gun and it went off and hit my client,” Jaroslawicz said. “I’m sure he’ll say it was an accident.”

Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies found Bradley in an alley, shot in the head, but he told investigators he didn’t know who attacked him, officials said.
