Broncos turn to Dan Koppen again

A year ago when center J.D. Walton broke his ankle, the Broncos turned to Dan Koppen.

They did so again Thursday, signing the veteran center according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.

The move was hardly unexpected, as the free agent was just sitting there when it was learned Walton needed another round of surgery on his ankle, and could miss the entire season.

Koppen started 12 games last year after Walton’s injury (and 120 before that for the Patriots), so there’s a built-in comfort level with him, and it seems Peyton Manning adjusted to him fairly well last year.

    Hope Dan Kopen is the guy on the left.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Nope. He’s the guy in the center wearing orange.

  2. Dan Kopen is a terrible center. The Broncos should have kept Tebow and turned him into their center. He would be awesome. I know you all agree with me cause you love ya some Timmy T!!!
    GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yeah cause I totally want a QB who’s never played C in his whole life, to play C at 250 pounds vs 320 pound DT’s….

    Koppen didn’t allow any sacks last year, but he’s pretty poor at run blocking, especially now that he’s 34. Hopefully there’ll be somewhat of a competition there because it looks like there main focus is improving the running game…

  4. Koppen was always a good player when he was with the Pats. He’s starting to get a little bit long in the tooth going into his 11th season, but he’s a great veteran plugin for the Donks.

  5. Koppen did an outstanding job last year. He is a veteran that knows blocking scheme and know Peytons tendancies.
