Cowboys sign second-rounder Escobar

With NFL teams firmly in get-thee-to-vacation mode, those with business to do are quickly wrapping it up.

The Cowboys just announced they had signed second-rounder Gavin Escobar, the 47th overall pick.

That leaves only first-rounder Travis Frederick without a deal among their seven picks.

Escobar could make an early impact for the Cowboys, as they’ve made a point that they want to use two-tight end sets more often this year. While veteran Jason Witten will remain the primary target, Escobar has good hands, and should get his chances as well.

Michael Irvin reccomended him. Mike was close to his uncle Pablo.

Escobar more of a receiver than blocker at this point but with his good hands and height, he could be a valuable weapon in the redzone.

Dude might be a great receiver but has wimpy guns. Oops… Hernandez has manly guns.

Romo and this kid will connect very very well. His blocking will develop in time but he can contribute immediately. Best hands in the draft.

Give Jethro…oops, Jerry, credit. Escobar and Williams will be given time to develop until its time to cut Witten and Austin. Maybe J.J. Finally read “G.M.’ing for dummies”
