The league’s new approach to stuff brought into a stadium becomes problematic in places where fans still place their butts on metal bleachers. Apparently, the league is willing to soften (pun not intended but what the hell I’ll take it) the rules, a bit.
As unveiled last week, the new “bag” rule prohibits seat cushions, since explosive devices in theory can be hidden inside them. According to FOX 11, the Packers say that “some seat backs and foam pads” will be permitted.
In a video posted at the team’s official website, director of security Doug Collins explains that the difference arises from the presence of pockets and zippers that “could house an illegal device that we do not want coming through the gates.”
The clarification apparently applies to every NFL stadium, but it’s relevant only in those venues where bleachers remain in place.
That’s yet another reason to get rid of bleachers.
