Jonathan Stewart refutes report that he has cancer

As recoveries go, this might be the quickest. Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart does not, in fact, have cancer.

Last night, an injury report on the Sporting News website listed Stewart as “out indefinitely” with cancer. This was news to Stewart, who took to Twitter to make sure everyone knew he did not.

The Sporting News issued a correction later in the evening, and editor in chief Garry Howard told the Charlotte Observer in a statement the mistake “was totally¬†due to an automated feed that has since been corrected.”

Well, as long as it was only the automated cancer feed. We feel much better now. Stewart presumably does also.

Would be curious to know how the heck that happened with “automation”. First thing I thought of might have been a dropdown or something in their backend where someone picked the wrong option, like if it was like alphabetical order and there was nothing between “ankle” and “cancer” but that’s still human error and a stretch…

Whoa! I’ll admit that had me scared for a moment.

And another tweet from an NFL player making you wonder how he got into college. He tried really hard, but it’s still nearly unreadable.

Almost as bad as reporting Terry Bradshaw is dead.

The last time I remember a player denying that he had cancer, Eric Turner, he was dead a couple of weeks later. Just sayin’.

What? Terry Bradshaw is not dead? Shh! Don’t tell him, because he probably doesn’t know! Just kidding…..I love the guy……my favorite pre-game host of all time and he knows what he’s talking about.

The Sporting News is obviously well-trained in the most popular corporate communication around. “Somebody made a mistake. It is definitely, positively, I-swear-to-God absolutely NOT OUR FAULT, in any way, shape, form or fashion. Our company is 100% perfect. We NEVER make mistakes or do anything bad. Someone else is to blame.”

Now let’s move on to another season where both halves of Double Trouble run for 1,000 yards.
