The Raiders waived second-year linebacker Mario Kurn on Monday.

The 22-year-old Kurn spent the 2012 regular season on injured reserve after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in August.

Kurn was a defensive end at the University of San Diego, where he notched 34.5 sacks from 2008 through 2011. The Raiders signed him as an undrafted free agent in April 2012.

The Raiders now have 89 players on the roster, one fewer than the limit.

I wonder why they are going to pick up now? a free agent move? Who else is on the market?

I hope we haven’t heard the last of him. He showed real promise until the knee injury last year. Deserves a chance to get healthy and show a team what he can do.

I’m guessing he didn’t make the Raiders Mt. Rushmore.

Maybe the roster spot was opened for LB Nick Barnett?

The move would make sense given the Green Bay connection and the need for the Raiders. Plus he can be reunited with Charles Woodson, it’s a fact that they play well and communicate with each other. Perfect for a young team building to the future.
