There certainly has been no love lost between Warren Sapp and members of the New York Giants in the past. Sapp has downplayed the accomplishments of Michael Strahan for years and continued last week by saying that he would put Simeon Rice in the Hall of Fame before electing Strahan.
Now one of Strahan’s former teammates has decided to take issue with Sapp.
According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, former Giants running back Tiki Barker didn’t take too kindly to the comments regarding Strahan.
“Warren’s an idiot,” Barber said. “He just wants to say things to be idiotic. I played with Stray for my whole career. He is the greatest of the great. He is a great teammate, he kept things light, but on game day he was as serious as a heart attack and it showed in his play.”
Sapp said that Strahan’s numbers were inflated because he lined up on the left side of the defensive line and was therefore going against right tackles as opposed to left tackles for the majority of his career.
“Warren doesn’t know, never played with him,” Barber said. “I don’t put any credence in his opinion. “I hope Stray doesn’t let it bother him. I don’t think it does.”
It is a bit humorous to see Barber sticking up for Strahan, however. Barber once ripped Strahan telling him “he should just be quiet” when it came to comments regarding contract negotiations with the Giants.
