Mayo says Patriots will “ignore the noise” on Hernandez

AP

Will the Aaron Hernandez situation serve as a distraction for the Patriots? Not according to one of their team leaders.

New England linebacker Jerod Mayo says the Patriots all know that they need to focus on their own jobs, and ignore any distractions about one of their teammates being involved in a homicide investigation.

We always talk about ignoring the noise, and we’re doing the same now,” Mayo told ESPNBoston.com. “Whether it’s good or bad, we always talk about ignoring the noise.”

Beyond that, Mayo has nothing to say about the Hernandez situation.

“I’m going to leave that one alone until everything’s done or whatever,” he said.

That’s just the kind of answer Bill Belichick would want.

  1. I heard he’ll be arrested soon…….and they executed a search warrant on his third cousin’s, next door neighbors, best friends aunt.

  2. That’s all we can do at this point. As a Pats fan, I hope Hernandez didn’t actually pull the trigger. Just being a witness is bad enough, and I hope justice is ultimately served for the Lloyd family. “sh*t happens” for every team. Pats will get through this…

  3. Thumbs up if you are looking forward to the following….

    (Jim Nantz voice)

“Brady has a tough a year, with a total change over at WR and TE the timing based offense has lead to an NFL leading 35 sacks against and its only Week 9. You have to wonder how long he physically hold up at his age. The unfortunate injury to Danny Amendola in training camp, forcing the Patriots to sign Randy Moss and he has been largely ineffective. Just 20 catches over the first 9 games of the year. Brady drops back to pass and he is overwhelmed again, 4th and 10. The Patriots will have to punt and this one is over. The Patriots fall to 3-6 and 3rd in the division…”

  4. Robot number 14 says “we will do our jobs”

then, unexplainably mutters “they made more plays than us” before his battery runs out.

Well at least you won’t be confusing the noise with the sound of a Stanley Cup parade.

  6. Looks like Denver did the right thing getting rid of Tim Tebow. Tebow went to the jets and they simply imploded! Tebow went to the Pats and they imploded too! Bill Belichick went from Genius to Cheater to Numbskull! Ha Ha! Lot’s of teams were laughing about the Saints Bounty Scandal last year. Who’s laughing now! Yep. US! Geaux Saints!

  7. ““I’m going to leave that one alone until everything’s done or whatever,”

If only the media will do the same.

  8. for the last time…. TEBoW is NOT a TE. never will be. do you people ha e ANY clue how long it takes to develop the hands, route running and blocking techniques to be even a marginal NFL TE? goog god, get a clue already.

PS: he would be a tiny te at that.

nope, you guys got it ALL figured out…. Tim Tebow is EXACTLY the guy Brady wants protecting his back side when Patrick Willis comes on the blitzing bullrush.

stop being Tebow fans and learn something, just something about the game.

  9. This is quickly approaching Favre retiring/unretiring status. Would love nothing more than swift justice regardless of how it effects Hernandez.

Got news for you Buddy – teams are still laughing at the Saints. You have a QB and coach who sacrificed games to pad the QB’s stats. Where did that get you? Oh yeah, and Bountygate wasn’t a laughing matter. To intentional hurt another is kind of in the same category as killing another.

  11. Hernandez learned all of his destroying skills from Goodell. Hopefully, Goodell rewards him with a perma-ban.

  12. Normally when you are talking about noise, you are talking about a DUI charge, or a disgruntled teammate upset about a contract.

This is murder. It’s not noise. It’s serious and at a position that already looked like a mess. The whole camp is going to be a mess. Should be fun to watch though.

Not bad, Jets fan. Would that there were more robots and fewer rogues on my team right about now.

  14. Lol @ tebow being a good signing because of this. What exactly in his past has led you to believe he can play TE? Sure he’s somewhat fast & strong for that position. But can he block? Who knows? Can he run routes? Who knows? Can he catch a football? Again, who knows? It’s funny that this was a terrible move when the Jets got him but for the Pats it’s a great move. Ridiculous.

  15. Every time the Patriots lose a game this upcoming season, Hernandez will be mentioned as a possible distraction. Hopefully we will get to hear a lot more about this as another team wins the AFC East divisional title.

Ha Ha. You’re not my “buddy” pal. Another goober that thinks NFL defenders don’t try to hurt their opponents. That’s funny. You must be Goodell’s cousin! Your little knock on Brees, don’t tell me, you lost alot of money on your 3rd grade fantasy league team!…….Ha Ha…..oh yea, i bet you believe in the tooth fairy, santa clause, the easter bunny and Jesus too, right?!!!!! Saints will win the NFC and the Super Bowl again this year! Ha Ha. Geaux Saints!

But it was oh so deserved. Boston fans are pathetic. Taunting Crawford, as RASK gives up 12 goals in 3 games, while his playoffs-long LUCK ran out.

Jim Nantz will probably drink himself into oblivion now that his favorite team is facing harsh times.

    Mr wright
How did the rangers do this year? That’s right they lost to the bruins. And how about them giants? They missed the playoffs this year and will miss it again this year
    —————–

See what I mean about their fans being cretins, trying to sweep things under the rug and point fingers at others?

You lost. You don’t have the cup. Nor do the Rangers.

And you have lost your mind if you think the Giants are missing the playoffs. Have fun defending Hernandez all year.

  19. Jets, Dolphins and Bills fans are all excited now that the Pats are going through some crap and now they have a chance to win the AFC East. So basically you agree that the only way you can beat the Pats is when they are distracted with off the field stuff. As long as Brady is the QB and BB is the coach I don’t see the Pats out of the race to win the division no matter how many distractions there are.
