APThe Cowboys have tried to support defensive tackle Josh Brent after he was charged with intoxication manslaughter for a drunken car crash that killed a teammate.
But Brent is making it harder and harder to justify that support.
According to NBC 5 in Dallas, Brent is back behind bars, after failing a second test for marijuana.
Brent reportedly tested positive earlier this month as well, while he’s out on bond awaiting trial for the death of teammate Jerry Brown.
Brown’s own mother has urged forgiveness, and the Cowboys have reportedly been inclined to hang onto him for his football potential.
But at a time when the Patriots immediately released Aaron Hernandez and the Browns washed their hands of Ausur Walcott immediately after charges were filed, the Cowboys’ decision looks more and more unusual, and their faith poorly placed.

Don’t even make an attempt to compare those 2 to Brent. Two should be in jail sounds like and one should be in rehab.
He’s about to be on trial for manslaughter, I’d wanna relax too.
Cowboys need to get rid of this clown. They shouldn’t have even waited this long.
Josh and Aaron Hernandez received an opportunity of a lifetime. Play football, do the right thing and earn money. But I guess the “do the right thing” part was too challenging. And them Josh is gonna keep smoking pot without a care in the world. Idk. Just ungrateful.
This man is stressd out..who cares if he’s puffin trees..
There sure are a lot of NFL players killing people these days.
It is 2013 and we are still placing people in jails that are over capacity for smoking a plant that makes you relaxed.
I don’t want to play devils advocate here…but it generally takes 30 days for pot to get out of your system. If he took it earlier this month and lets say he smoked right before he got the last surprise test…well he wouldn’t have time to get it out of his system.
Either way, I’m assuming the courts know that so it’s gotta be more to it than that. He seemed like such a good kid, wrapped up in a tragic decision. It’s no where NEAR the same thing as Hernandez, but his time with the Cowboys may be running short.
I know they wanted him to get suspended so they could cut him with out losing much money, but they kept pushing his court date back and the NFL wouldn’t suspend him until after that. They might have to bite the bullet and just deal with it.
Your move Jerry.
Stay classy Josh Brent!!!
Wear a grey tank under a white shirt, instead of white under white. Fashion tip number one.
Cut him
@reesesteel23 says:
you get rehab for a DUI or DWI not a DWI with Manslaughter added to it. he is showing he could care less about what happened if he cant keep clean for a year or two. i know its just weed but still….
He was responsible for another person death.
Although he hasn’t been productive since his deadly accident, Stalloworth has kept his nose clean and (somehow) managed to stay in the league. Rather than follow Stallworth’s example, Brent seems determined to throw his career away. What a waste.
Brent trying to take the limelight away from Hernandez. Not going to work.
Someone died because of his actions and decisions. Anyone else wouldve been locked up. Buh Bye Brent – no one else to blame but yourself. Too dumb to even quit smokin weed. Clearly a productive member of society….
Football potential? He’s going to prison for at least a couple years.
Another IDIOT!
Cut him now!!!!!!! Don’t make us look like a classless organization! Can’t help anyone who doesn’t want to help themselves!
He should be released immediately. Show some class Cowboys.
This week just keeps getting better and better in the NFL!!!
Why expand the league with a team in Europe? The NFL should just form a couple prison expansion teams right here in the good ol’ US of A.

Couldn’t agree more! No other owner can compare to Jerry ‘s history of indifference to criminal behavior on the part of Dallas players as long as they could produce on the field.
Actually, Brent is responsible for someone’s death.
There are parallels – the difference is the weapon used.
As a Cowboys fan, I have to say it’s time to cut ties with Brent. He’s had his roster spot since the accident. Been able to go to the facility to work out and see people.
Now after 2 positive drug tests .. TURN OFF THE LIGHTS .. THE PARTY’S OVER! Sing it Dandy Don!
Get rid of this dude!
Whether he belongs in jail or rehab is a debate for a different type of thread, but what’s increasingly clear either way is that this guy shouldn’t be affiliated with the NFL. If Jerry remains inexplicably unwilling to cut this repeat offender, Goodell should shove Jerry aside and do it for him.
Well, it appears thatTitus Young is certifiably bi-polar, but, what’s Brent’s excuse?
You can’t fix stupid and NO I’m not talking about Josh Brent, but insert name _____ Jones
pretty sure all 3 should be in jail ^^
As an organization, the Cowboys have crashed and burned.
Rehab for killing someone priceless. Just when you think you’ve seen the dumbest posts on here along comes another idiot who wants a shot at the title
The NFL is the best soap opera ever! you just cant make this stuff up
Does the counter reset if 2 nd arrest for same thing
marijuana? The title says he failed a drug test, I am confused.
It appears that Aaron Hernandez is a cold-blooded killer.
Josh Brent is a reckless party fool whose indiscriminate actions had deadly affect on a friend.
You cannot compare a guy like Hernandez to an idiot like Josh Brent other than they both played football.
Hernandez now faces possible indictment on at least two more murders besides the Odin killing. This man is so dangerous that he will not be granted bail because he is a danger to the public and has the ability to flee the country. He is toast.
See you later…fool!
How stupid can you be. Some people just don’t get it no matter how many chances you give them.
Not condoning any of Brent’s actions – but comparing a guy with a substance abuse problem who was involved in a fatal accident to a guy accused of committing two first degree murders strikes me as unfair.
Im not defending this dude by any means…Dislike the Cowboys as much as any skin, eagle or giant…BUT a Triple homicide when you’re completely sober(not to mention pre-meditated) vs. being drunk, crashing a car and the passenger dying cant be compared in any way shape or form.
Actually I lied…the only comparison is that someone’s life was lost. period.
Jones excuses anything for performance on the field.
Un be lieve a ble.
He killed a guy too. Jail em

If you think that’s what I meant when I said he should be in rehab then you, my friend, are the actual idiot.
Quantcast
Submit the evidence before the court. Let us all test this “chronic” and see if it’s justifiably good that a reasonable man couldn’t refuse at least finishing off the last bag.
Cut him now, he has a history of bad judgement ending in a mans death.
“Don’t even make an attempt to compare those 2 to Brent. Two should be in jail sounds like and one should be in rehab.”
I think someone forgot why Brent is getting drug tested so much. Remember, he did kill someone…
You don’t wear a tank top undershirt with a white dress shirt. Geez.
Ill defend smoking weed as much as the next guy but if this idiot cant follow a simple court order after he killed his friend, he deserves jail for life just for his stupidity.
They may find a cure for cancer someday but there will never be a cure for stupid.
To quote Judge Smails; “the man’s a menace!”
Paging Roger Goodell, Roger Goodell where arrreeee youuuuuu?????
The NFL can take another cue from Robert Kraft. If you want these MEN to stop being morons then you have to start setting examples… start cutting guys and see who quick everyone else falls in line.
Cowboy is as cowboy does.
You cant compare Hernandez to Brent sure deaths involved but –
Brent didnt INTEND to kill his friend and
Brent didnt use a gun.
He needs help and punishment and given the 2 marajuana use issues it does sound like the Cowboys should cut him, but I think standing by him initially was the right thing to do.
Do you think that he may be stuck in a state of depression and is resorting to substance abuse? I mean he’s kind of responsible for the death of a friend, not everybody is going to be able to take that with a smile.
Unlike all the other morons passing judgement, I’m going to try to use something called logic.
head looks tiny.
As much as I dislike the Patriots and this stupid perception of there being an almighty “Patriot Way” of doing business……they have a turd accused of murder to deal with, they cut him within the hour. The Cowboys?……they put their turd on the sidelines on the same weekend of vehicular manslaughter accusation.
Makes the guys”allegedly” involved in Bounytgate last year look like Saints !!!;)
This guy is a DB of the highest order. And obviously has the IQ of a steaming pile of dung. What are you waiting for Jerry, cut him.

He was so “relaxed” that he killed a guy ….. a FRIEND.
You’d think that killing a friend while under the influence would have some kind of effect on this guy, but obviously you’d be wrong.
Next up, lawyer says he smoked due to PTSD from killing his friend.
Some pretty lame comments here. He is not in jail for smoking. He is jail for MANSLAUGHTER! I would be in jail right now if that was me, and his only condition for staying free is stay sober. He couldnt do that so lock him up.
Brent is a complete buffoon. It’s goofs like him that don’t belong in the NFL.
Wow! This guy is really as stupid as he looks!
Is it me or does brent look like he has gotten heavier.
I think he was baking the pot into large batches of brownies!
I said it after the first failed drug test and will say it again. CUT HIM. He obviously doesn’t get it or care.
At least he didn’t kill somebody! Oh, wait…
BINGO!
You keep on supporting this sorry excuse of a person Jerrah cuz it’s the cowboy way! While other teams are throwin’ out the trash, Jerrah throws continuous lifelines.
Jerry continues to be the biggest buffoon in the room. Clueless beyond belief….until the next draft/episode/comment. There is no light at the end of the tunnel for this team. Like the storytelling uncle everyone thinks is insane at the family outing.
Eventually, even in soft on crime America, when you rack up enough felonies you have to go to jail.
Hey may be big, but his brain sure is small.
