Prosecutor suggests Glock in Hernandez photo was murder weapon

Hernandez

Could Aaron Hernandez really be so stupid as to take a picture of himself holding a gun and then use that gun to commit a murder? That’s what the prosecutor at Hernandez’s bail hearing suggested on Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday, TMZ published a photo showing Hernandez standing in front of a mirror with a phone in one hand and a Glock handgun in the other. Less than 24 hours later, Bristol County Assistant District Attorney William McCauley said in court that investigators have reason to believe that Hernandez killed Odin Lloyd with that same gun he’s holding in the picture.

“There was a photo that was shown on the Internet of the defendant holding a Glock .45,” McCauley said. “That Glock -- there’s good reason to believe the firearm that killed Mr. Lloyd was a Glock because the Glock has a rifling system that is different than most firearms.”

McCauley also revealed that investigators found more evidence when they executed a search warrant on Wednesday on a condominium leased by Hernandez. That evidence includes ammunition of the same caliber as the ammunition found at the murder scene.

According to McCauley, the prosecution believes it has a very strong case against Hernandez.

“I would suggest the evidence has established an overwhelming amount of evidence demonstrating the defendant’s guilt,” McCauley said.
