Huge crowd mourns Odin Lloyd

A crowd numbering the hundreds turned out Saturday for the funeral of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd.  The semi-pro football player allegedly was killed by former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez on June 17 in North Attleboro, Massachusetts.

The church couldn’t hold all mourners, which included members of the Boston Bandits, who wore their jerseys and chanted Lloyd’s name as his casket was placed inside the hearse.

Hernandez remains jailed without bail, and two other men — Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace — have been arrested in connection with Lloyd’s death.

The Boston Globe has reported that police believe Hernandez may have killed Lloyd because he had information tying Hernandez to an unsolved double murder that occurred in July 2012.

  1. It’s really sad that a man had to lose his life for us to learn what kind of a scumbag Aaron Hernandez really is. It’s also really sad how many people probably leached on to this funeral because of all the attention the media is giving it.

  2. There’s way too much of this happening every day. If nothing else, maybe this will remind everyone of how senseless it is to do this to each other. Two families now are irrevocably changed because of something stupid…maybe more. Plus, it looks like a baby is going to be growing up without her father.

  3. Face facts, people; if Aaron Hernandez was a tattooed murdering hood, and Odin Lloyd was his friend, I’m guessing Lloyd was no choir boy either.

  4. I hate to say it, but it is kind of hard to feel complete compassion for someone who was running with gang-bangers and ended up dead.

However, it is easy to feel compassion for those who, despite whatever he may have been involved in, loved him and are suffering through the loss.

  5. While I believe Odin Lloyd’s death is tragic and wrong. I would like to know why he was hanging around with murderous scumbags. Everyone who knew him that has spoken to the media talked about how kind and great he was. So why?

  6. Hernandez was clearly an imminent danger to society.

I’m sure it’s no solace to the Odin’s family, but ultimately Lloyd WAS the one to put Hernandez behind bars – and we owe him and his family a major debt of gratitude for that.

    Thank you.

  7. If he knew Hernandez murdered two other people in 2012, why didn’t he go to the cops. He still continued to run with him? Might have saved his own life.

  8. I feel bad for the kid involved who won’t have a father, but as for gang bangers, it’s population control. Sorry, but if you hang with gangsters and end up dead, hard to feel totally sorry for you.

  9. Would this number of people have turned up if the main suspect wasn’t an NFL player? Of course not

  10. Does anyone else feel that Aaron’s fiance looks pretty stupid/bad listening to Hernandez and not cooperating with police and also sticking by him and showing up to court, etc?

Theres no way this whole time she didnt know her man was a gang bangin murderer yet she shows up in tears and distraught at the courthouse? Why, because Aaron was finally caught? Not to mention the fact that he killed her younger sisters boyfriend. Zero humility and empathy and complete trash for continuing to support Hernandez and for being with this loser in the first place

  11. Odin Lloydd, Aaron Hernandez , the uncle they all had it coming …. Death or prison …. That’s the destination for all gang bangers and their friends…. They should also put on their Raiders jerseys ….

  12. If Odin Lloyd had any brains he would of gone straight to the police but I bet you he was trying to extort Hernandez for money … This is a typical gang member deal gone sour …. Odin Lloyd had it coming ….. And Hernandez now can pay his life in prison …. The only thing missing here is both of them wearing Raiders jerseys …

  13. For real ya’ll? Dayum, so because he hung around a gang banger, his death, his mother’s loss, his sister’s loss, is no less tragic? I’m sure Ted Bundy’s mother cried when he fried. Ya’ll don’t know how many people would have showed up, cuz y’all didn’t know the man. Typically, people show up to show support for the loved one left behind, they don’t necessarily have to know the deceased. I’ve been to plenty of funerals for my friend’s loved ones. I never met the deceased in my life, but I was there for my friends.

  14. Hernandez stayed with Tebow when he was being recruited by the Gators. Cam Newton would have been part of the same class. With Percy Harvin there as well. Wow.

  15. Wow. People here are judging Odin Lloyd and AH fiancé. It’s very possible the fiancé had no idea what AH was up too. They have an 8 month and she was pregnant for 9 months. He had a condo he leased. Very possible she had no idea. As for Lloyd, we are assuming he knew about a mirder from 2012 yet no evidence exists. Stop judging so harshly you all.

  16. You did not die in vain young man. Your message has been delivered in death, and you will bring peace to the families of the other victims. ou also protected the people he surely would have murdered in the future. God bless.

  17. If Odin Lloyd had any brains he would of gone straight to the police but I bet you he was trying to extort Hernandez for money … This is a typical gang member deal gone sour …. Odin Lloyd had it coming ….. And Hernandez now can pay his life in prison …. The only thing missing here is both of them wearing Raiders jerseys , Odin is a victim of his own stupid greed .
