Frank Gore thinks Colin Kaepernick can get “a lot better”

Colin Kaepernick was plenty good in his first 10 games as the 49ers’ starting quarterback, but at least one of his teammates thinks we’ve only seen the beginning of what Kaepernick can do.

San Francisco running back Frank Gore said on ESPN that he believes Kaepernick’s work ethic makes it a sure thing that he’ll improve in his first offseason of work running the first-string offense.

“He could get a lot better,” Gore said. “One thing I love about that young guy, he works. He works very hard. Even before he got the starting job he used to be the first one there and one of the last guys out. As long as he keeps learning, working from the coaches and just being him, he’ll be fine.”

Kaepernick was better than fine in 2012, providing an instant upgrade when he took the job from Alex Smith in the regular season, then playing three strong games in the playoffs. If he’s capable of getting a lot better than that, the rest of the league had better watch out.
