Britt helps his high school team attend football camp

With a never ending flow of Aaron Hernandez stories, we’re trying to periodically cleanse the page with a blurb or two about players doing something good.

According to the Jersey Journal, Titans receiver Kenny Britt has cut a check in the amount of $5,000 for the Bayonne High School football team.  The donation helped fund the 32-member squad’s recent trip to State College, Pennsylvania for a three-day football camp.

“I called him up and I talked to him and told him what we needed,” coach Rick Rodriguez told the Jersey Journal.  “I told him, ‘Now it’s your turn to help young Bayonne players’ who are in the same classroom that he was, wear the same uniform he did, wear the same helmet.”

After a rocky couple of years, Britt has remained out of trouble for an extended stretch of time.  It’s a sign that he’s maturing.

“I’ve been staying in contact with him,” Rodriguez said.  “I stress to him I want him to be a good pro, a true pro.  Do the right things, that’s what a true pro does.”
Britt has plenty of reasons to do that as he enters the final year of his rookie contract.  At one point, he seemed destined to land a huge second contract.  Now, he has to earn it.
