Roethlisberger would play in Ireland for Rooney

We’ve previously heard from players grousing about playing in London, with some saying saying they’d rather quit than have to go there on a regular basis, and some Jaguars acknowledging multiple games would hurt them.

But if it was just one game, and it was in Dublin, Ben Roethlisberger said the Steelers would be all-in.

Steelers owner Dan Rooney is just home from a three-year stint as the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland, and has talked about playing a game in his ancestral land for years. And Roethlisberger said regardless the logistical challenges, he’d do it out of respect for his boss.

“I would like it for him,” Roethlisberger told Brendan O’Brien of the Irish Examiner. “That’s how much he means to me and I think everyone on our team would say that. Even if guys said they would never want to play in London, 100 percent of the guys on our team would say they would play in Dublin for Mr Rooney. I’d do it for him.”

Of course, not every team is owned by a man held in such esteem in the locker room, so Roethlisberger’s views may not hold in other places.

If the Cowboys loose their home game to the Giants again, London or Ireland might be an option as a change of pace and possibly change of luck.

It’s pretty bad that we haven’t won against the G-Men @ home since we moved in!

So the Steelers would be willing to play one game in Dublin? What does this have to do with love for Rooney? They’re already planning on playing one game in London.

This guy is a piece of work. Ray Lewis is trying to save lives and improve living conditions in Africa and Roethlisbooger spends his time thinking of new ways to help his multi-millionaire boss act like a big shot. I guess this is what happens when you put up with someone who drags your team into the biggest perverted sex scandal in the history of the NFL. Looney and Roethlisbooger deserve each other.

One fine o’flippin’ idea! Start packing the bags, Mr Rooney. Ben and 31 fan bases are all for it!

    Dear Joemontana flacco,

Are you kidding me? For starters, Ray Lewis is retired mow, so he has free time to do things like that. Ben is there on behalf of the NFL, doing his job.
Next point, do not even dare talk bad about the Rooney family! They have done more for the sport and league than your entire orginization has even thought. Your owner is a baby in this biz compared to the Rooney family.
Ben may have had a sex scandle, but there were never charges, UNLIKE your amazing Ray Lewis who was actually CHARGED with murder, but pled to lesser charges.

In your wildest fantasies your team isnt what ours is. Keep dreaming that some day your owner can be half ours!

Who wouldn’t rather play in Dublin than London? That’s a gimme! The Irish are much better at having a good time than the stodgy English.

    @steelcurtainn
A few other franchises might disagree with Steeler fans thinking they have the largest fan base

. Top Ten Biggest Fan Bases: 1. Cleveland Browns 2. Dallas Cowboys3. Green Bay Packers4.New York Giants 5. Pittsburgh Steelers6. Kansas City Chiefs7. Washington Redskins8.

Hate to break it to you, but I’ve never fantasized about the Looney Steelers winning te Superbowl and the Ravens going 8-8 after getting knocked out of their first playoff game by Tim Tebow.

And if you can’t recognize that Ray Lewis and Roethlisbooger were treated like night and day in the same state, then we have nothing to talk about.

Too bad for Ben that those Irish girls can really drink and hold their liquor.

  25. Joemontanaflacco says: Jul 9, 2013 7:35 AM

    Roethlisbooger:
I want to play in Ireland. I want to help Mr. Looney throw his weight around in another country. I want more rings than Terry Bradshaw. I want I want I want.
    Ray Lewis:
I want to help sick and starving children in Africa. I want to improve living conditions for Africans living in impoverished villages.

Unfortunately, that picture of Ben from the Superbowl feels like a long time ago.

I hope Ben can actually stay healthy for the whole season this year, but I’m starting to have some doubts.
