The Patriots are offering to give fans new jerseys in exchange for their old Aaron Hernandez jerseys, and many are taking New England up on the proposition.

Close to 1,200 Hernandez jerseys had been traded in for other New England jerseys as of late Saturday afternoon, the Patriots said.

Not surprisingly, replica jerseys bearing the names and numbers of quarterback Tom Brady and nose tackle Vince Wilfork have been among the most routinely requested by fans, the club said. Moreover, the jerseys of defensive end Chandler Jones and running back Stevan Ridley are also popular, the team said.

The Patriots’ jersey exchange, held at Gillette Stadium, runs through 9 p.m. Eastern on Saturday night and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m Eastern on Sunday.
